REACTION PAPER
“Gender and Family Relations”
Part 1: SUMMARY
Inside this topic, family is considered to be the first support system that a child must have along
with their early childhood development. Family is the primary socialization and is called the first
focal socialization agency. “Gender and Family Relations” is a topic that encircles around the
relevance of family, the definition and its structure, and how it can affect the child`s development.
This topic also illustrates the ways on promoting gender-equality inside our home.
Part 2: REACTION
Family should act like an anchor that stems us in one place, a place where we can love and be loved,
something that we call “home”, the one that nurtures and support us from the very beginning. I
personally agree inside the discussion that family is highly responsible for every child`s
development. As basic and essential building blocks of societies, families have a crucial role in
social development. They hold the greatest responsibility for the healthy well-being, socialization,
and education of children as well as programming their values and good moral conduct.
All of that I have mentioned is something that I strongly agree with. Family is important because
they can offer support and security coupled with unconditional love. They will always look to see
and bring out the best in you even if you cannot see it for yourself. And I can see why some of us
experiencing issues in terms of physical and mental health, alcohol, and drug use. All of it might
be due to poor family-care as a kid. They`re the ones that are more likely vulnerable for depression,
and other psychiatric disorders throughout adulthood. I conclude that children's early experiences
and relationships in the early stage of life are critical for one`s physical, emotional, and mental
development.
Taking everything into consideration, family will serve as the primary agency of socialization and
the one that is highly responsible for child`s development throughout adulthood. Family is the first
support system that a child must have. I would like to end my reaction paper with a quotation that
says “Family is not an important thing. It's everything.” – Michael J. Fox.

The role of the family is very important in the introduction of gender identity in children because the
role of the family will be a pattern that shapes the character of the child, especially parents to children,
which becomes the identity construction recorded in the child.
Structure offers children a sense of security and control in a world full of uncertainty – and helps create
healthy habits that last into adulthood. Plus, you're building overall healthy family relationships.
