Write a story about an accident that ends with: “….

thank goodness
for the good Samaritans”

It was a day before Eid al-Adha and I was so gratified to see my parents at home.
I grinned at the thought of them, smiling ear to ear wearing their new clothes, happy to
celebrate Eid al-Adha as it was the first year after two years we did not celebrate it
together since I was busy with my studies. I put the last t-shirt which is my favourite one
in my white coloured luggage and zipped it as strong as I could. It looked like it almost
exploded with its packed state. For the last time, I checked myself by the mirror. I was
fixing my chiffon shawl and making sure that I look nice and neat. I locked my door and
went down to get my car, a Mercedes Benz in dark blue.

Although it was a scorching hot day, it didn’t bother me at all. I drove my way out
of the university and was on the road heading towards Pahang, my beloved place. I
looked over to my watch, it was 9 in the morning, meaning that I had two hours to arrive
there before the Zohor call prayers. I turned on the radio and connected it to my phone. I
scrolled through the tracks and played ‘There For You’ by Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan
at medium volume. I was drowned in the song, singing it along and tapping the steering
wheel to the sick beat.

One hour passed at one fell swoop. I suddenly had the urge inside of me to call
my mother, so I did. I dialed her number before I put the phone near to my ear, and felt
the coldness of the screen. Warmth spread through my body as I heard her voice over
the phone, cheerfully picked up my call and asked how I was doing and how she missed
me so much. As I was about to open my mouth, a herd of cows crossed the lane
abruptly and I was caught off guard. My mind went blank as my car made its way to the
side with a screeching noise and it tumbled over two times making the windows around
me shattered into pieces and some of it somehow got into my eyes. My body was
awfully weak and my limbs felt numb as I whined in pain. I could hear my mother
panicking through the phone and all I could manage to say was ‘I miss you too’.

Before my vision went all black, a deep male voice regained my consciousness.
The voice increased from one to numerous voices came from whether men, women or
even kids. Suddenly, my body felt light as the hefty load was lifted slowly revealing the
faces of men that cooperated in pushing the car aside, creating an air pocket for me to
breath my heart out. They succeeded after a while, earning cheers from the crowds on
not giving up to save a stranger like me. Then, an ambulance’s siren was heard and I
was brought to the hospital nearby. On the way to the hospital, two men and a woman
accompanied me and informed my parents about my dreadful accident. It was a miracle
because the three of them were of different races, Malay, Chinese and Indian giving me
hope that our country will live in peace.

I was lying on the hospital bed, playing with the pure white sheet out of boredom.
Suddenly, the sliding door was opened and familiar faces showed up making my tears
fell down on my rosy cheeks down to my cheekbones. If it not for the people who helped
me up, I would not have the chance to see my parents again. Thank goodness for the
good Samaritans.
Write a story starting with: “The widow had to work hard to bring up her little son alone...”

The widow had to work hard to bring up her little son alone. This was after her husband’s
early death. She and her son lived in a wooden house. It was a small house with only one bedroom
and a kitchen.
Mariam wanted Sam to study hard to get good result. So she would not let Sam help her do
any household chores or wash his own clothes. The years flew by. Sam sat for his SPM examination
and pass with flying colours.
His mother was very happy. She went round telling her friends, “My Sam will be leaving for the
city to study in a college. He will become a Manager one day. I’ll move to live with him in the city.
Then, my struggle is worth it.”
So Mariam continued to work hard to send money to Sam who was studying a business
degree. For Mariam, it was a tough life. Meanwhile, Sam kept on phoning home to ask for more
money. Mariam even had to borrow from her neighbours and friends to send her son the money.
Three years Sam stopped calling home. He did not even let his mother where he was. When
she phoned the faculty, they told her that he had graduated and left for job. However, they could not
her more. Mariam was baffled. Where was Sam? She was so sure he would come back and fetch her
for city. So, she started to pack some of her bags and boxes.
Three months later, there was still no news or call from Sam. One day, Mariam’s niece, Kate,
came to talk to her about Sam. She told her aunt, “Auntie, a friend of mine met Sam in a bank. He’s
the branch manager. This is his address.”
Early in the morning, Mariam took the first bus to the city. At the bus station, she took a taxi
and showed the taxi driver the bank address. On the way there, she told the driver about Sam and
what a filial son he was.
The driver stopped his taxi in front of a tall building. She got out of the taxi and smiled at him
happily. This was the moment she was going to meet Sam. She imagined him showing surprise and
delight at meeting his mother. Inside the building, a security guard asked her who she was looking for.
She told the guard Sam’s name.
The bank staff saw an old lady holding a worn-out handbag. They were wondering, “Who is
this woman? Why is she asking for our manager?”
Meanwhile, Sam pretended he did not know his mother. Feeling disgusted and ashamed, he
asked the security guard to ask her to leave. Mariam was shocked to hear that! She looked Sam in a
disappointed feeling ever, and ran out of the bank.
Back in her house, Mariam cried the whole night. She cried and cried till she had no more
tears. The next morning, she was sitting by the window with Sam’s photo on her lap. She saw him
walking towards their house. Soon she was shouting and crying, “My Sam is back! My Sam is back!”
Sam ran towards her and hugged Mariam as he never let go. He was so sorry and regretted
the way he behaved. His colleagues were the one who made him realized his big mistakes neglected
his mother.
The neighbours heard her. They too shouted and cheered, feeling happy for her.
Write a story ending with “... En. Nizam was grateful he had such good neighbours.”

Not even in his wildest dream did En. Nizam think he would lose so much in such a short time.
It had been a trying period. When he got word that his father was on his death bed, En. Nizam’s family
rushed to his hometown. Even before the funeral rites were over, he received a call from his
immediate neighbour that his house was partly destroyed by fire and that the cause of the fire was
believed to be arson.
Members of En. Nizam’s immediate family and his relatives were in state of disarray. First, it
was the death of an elder member of a family, then this misfortune. Although En. Nizam was worried,
deep in his heart he knew that he had very good neighbours, friends who would stand by him in good
times and bad.
Sure enough, the minute he set foot in the compound of his house, he knew he was right. His
neighbours, Mr. Subra and En. Majid, were there taking a close watch on the house. He learnt from
them that the neighbours had been taking turns to keep an all-day vigil on the house. He thanked
them from the bottom of his heart.
After inspecting the damage caused by the fire, En. Majid handed donations collected by the
residents living in the area. His neighbours had passed the hat around and the donations came up to
a significant amount. Although, the donations was still short of the amount required to repair the
damages, en. Nazim was grateful.
The next day, En. Nazim was even more overwhelmed by the care and concern shown by his
neighbours. They were there to extend their condolences and to show their support. Donations came
pouring in. The women folk were busy preparing all the meals for the family.
With the help of his neighbours, En. Nizam got a building contractor to repair the damaged
sections of the house. The repair and renovations took almost a week to complete. When the house
was ready, the neighbour turned up in full force to congratulate him.
Tears welled up in E. Nizam’s eyes. He was at a loss for words. En. Nizam was grateful he
had such good neighbours.

There was a loud knock on the door. Kimi was nervous when he heard that. His
heart was pounding like a drum. His pupils turned smaller as the door creaked larger
and larger. A tall slender shadowy figure was seen. He grabbed the nearest object and
the man at the door said, “Kimi, can I enter?”

It turned out to be his useless housemate, Aisy. Kimi was sick after a long day
making pizzas at Pizza Hut. Aisy showed that he brought medicine. Kimi then quickly
washed his paranoia away and let him in.
Aisy was astonished to see how pale and sweaty Kimi was so he asked, “Are you sick or
did you see a ghost?”

Kimi replied weakly, “It’s not like that. I just had this eerie dream where I was
almost murdered by a man in a white mask. He showed neither eyes nor mouth. He
chased and chased me with his long legs. He was trying to murder me with his axe. It
just felt so real, man. I got so carried away by it. Before you knocked that door, in my
dream there was also an old lady with red fiery eyes. She kept whispering over and over
about trusting nobody and run. It was weird. Creepy. I think it was just my migraine and
fever. I should stop overthinking. Can I have those pills now?”

Aisy simply nodded his head while listening. He continued by giving Kimi the
medicine followed by a glass of water. Kimi had it all in instance with the hope of getting
better soon.

However, the medicine did not make Kimi felt any better. Nausea began to kick
in. He also felt a sudden urge to puke. It felt as if a ball of steel as the size of his hand
was coming out of him. Blood was starting to be seen in his nose.

He shouted for help as the pain began to feel excruciating. Kimi simply wanted
the pain to halt immediately. Yet Aisy, with a grin on his face, stood at the corner
watching Kim suffocating in his own blood. Kimi vomited blood as he shrieked louder
and louder.

After some minutes, Kimi died in a horrific scene. Aisy watched till his very last
breath. He reached out his phone in the pocket dialing a number with the name Boss
and said, “Mission accomplished, sir.”
