*You can use a lot without a noun. Compare He ate a lot of food He ate a lot *Sometime much or a lot = often Do you watch TV much We go to the cinema a lot

Use some in positive sentences: Im going to buy some eggs She said something I saw somebody Use any in negative sentences: Im not going to buy any eggs She didnt say anything I didnt see anybody
In most questions we use any, but we normally use some when we offer things: - Would you like some? or ask for things: - Can I have some?
