1. Changes for hull related topics (Pt. 3 and Pt.

5)

Following the new technical platform for hull structures introduced with the DNV GL
rules in October 2015, necessary updates have been carried out to streamline the
application, refine scantling impact and correct misprints.
Please note that these changes come into force with immediate effect.
The table below gives an overview of main updates.

Rule reference Description

Pt 3 Ch 3  Corrosion margins hold space gas carriers
 Minimum corrugation angle
Pt 3 Ch 3, Ch 4, Ch 5  UR S11A implementation, tuning to reduced scantling
impact
Pt 3 Ch 6  Plates subject to ballast water over pumping
Pt 3 Ch 7  Anisotropic FEA
Pt 3 Ch 8  Slenderness HT steel plates
Pt 3 Ch 10  Bottom slamming primary support members
 Berthing impact zone/wheel load
Pt 3 Ch 12  Minimum thickness coamings small hatches
 Glass thickness requirements
Pt 3 Ch 15  Stability crane lifting operation
Pt 5 Ch 2  Material requirements longitudinal (IACS UR S6)
 Vertical wave shear modified outside of application area
for strength requirements in UR S11A
 Hull girder ultimate strength assessment only for
hogging; rule modification according to IACS UR S11A
 Implementation of IACS UR S33 Rev.1 and S34
Pt 5 Ch 3  FEA Load case adjustment car carrier

2. Other significant changes

 Fishing vessels (Rules Pt. 5 Ch. 12 Sec. 3)
o The required ventilation capacity when using R717 or R744 as
refrigerants is reduced to 6 air changes per hour.

 LFL Fuel (Rules Pt. 6 Ch. 2 Sec. 6)

o Alignment with last revision of the IGF-code and LFL-guideline text
