What makes religion so important to people?

For centuries, religion played a huge part in people's lives. Nowadays, what prevents
humanity from declining is belief. While different people have different religions and belief
systems all across the globe, they all have one thing in common— religion gives them rules to
live by. There are certain things the people don’t do because they abide by the rules of the
religion in which they are part of. Hence, influences the way people live their lives, both as
individuals and as a part of society. Religion also helps people in overcoming their fears. It
can be argued that the real world is indeed an unsafe and a frightening place. And because
people believe that the gods they worship can help them through it all, they surrender all
their worries to the divine being in which they believe in. Therefore, they are able to conquer
their fears after all.
