Hello, my name is milcio and now I going to explain what a memory ram is and rom, their characteristics,

their function, and the capacity their have.

RAM

RAM are the initials for Random access memory this is a hardware computing device where kept the
information and data programs that are used in the current moment to be researched very quickly by
the processor permit that the processor can reached quickly. It’s the main storage device of a computer
so is faster to read and write than the other devices like a hard drive or solid-state drive thought their
have mor capacity.

How it works

A RAM is a volatile memory, that means information and data retained in the memory stop to exist in
the moment when the pc turns off, only can be used when the pc is on. Because this storage the
information of a program that is already in use or was used after the pc turns on.

When the memory RAM fills up the computer overlay that information for the long capacity memory,
like a hdd or ssd, this permits the computer to stay working but turning it slower. It’s important to say
that a memory RAM can be full of data thought another storage data devices.

RAM store the data in location or address these locations are like boxes of information when want to be
used are searched around columns and down arrows. These boxes and search are named arrays.

Types of Ram memories

There are two types of ram:

The first one DRAM that means Dynamic Random Access Memory makes up the typical computing
device's RAM, and as was previously noted, it needs that power to be on to retain stored data.

And the other SRAM Still needs power to retain store data but it doesn't need to be continually
refreshed the way DRAM does.

Capacity

The capacity of a memory RAM its 512 mb to 2 tb, the recommended capacity for a computers
nowadays a least 8 gb to normal uses, for design goes to 16 to 1 tb equal to gaming.

ROM
ROM stands for read only memory. These means that the data is storage on the memory can only be
read and is write in with a fimware. This type of memory is non-volatile.

Types of memory ROM

MROM (Masked ROM)

The very first ROMs were hard-wired devices that contained a pre-programmed set of data or
instructions. These kind of ROMs are known as masked ROMs, which are inexpensive.
PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory)

PROM is read-only memory that can be modified only once by a user. The user buys a blank PROM and
enters the desired contents using a PROM program. Inside the PROM chip, there are small fuses which
are burnt open during programming. It can be programmed only once and is not erasable.

EPROM (Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory)

EPROM can be erased by exposing it to ultra-violet light for a duration of up to 40 minutes. Usually, an
EPROM eraser achieves this function. During programming, an electrical charge is trapped in an
insulated gate region. The charge is retained for more than 10 years because the charge has no leakage
path. For erasing this charge, ultra-violet light is passed through a quartz crystal window (lid). This
exposure to ultra-violet light dissipates the charge. During normal use, the quartz lid is sealed with a
sticker.

EEPROM (Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory)

EEPROM is programmed and erased electrically. It can be erased and reprogrammed about ten
thousand times. Both erasing and programming take about 4 to 10 ms (millisecond). In EEPROM, any
location can be selectively erased and programmed. EEPROMs can be erased one byte at a time, rather
than erasing the entire chip. Hence, the process of reprogramming is flexible but slow.

Advantages of ROM

The advantages of ROM are as follows −

 Non-volatile in nature

 Cannot be accidentally changed

 Cheaper than RAMs

 Easy to test

 More reliable than RAMs

 Static and do not require refreshing

 Contents are always known and can be verified
