Assignment Guidelines
For the following questions, be sure to connect to the reading material in your book. This is a writing
assignment, so answers should be written in complete and coherent sentences and paragraphs. Answers
in the A range will refer to the text and fully explain how the concepts learned in the text apply to the
question.

You may type your answers directly into this document after the prompts, save it, and then upload it into
the submission box.

Play through the Moral Minefield level for this week and answer the following questions:

1. Copy and paste (or screenshot) your Level overview and scores. You can find this information
again in your Overview & Profile.
2. Reflect on the scenarios presented in the game. Was there anything you found particularly
difficult? Anything that surprised you?

The scenario on corporate policy was challenging because I was not sure all the advantages this employee
had to offer and what level of importance she served. Also, the description of thr situation was vague in
the the sense that it left certain aspects to user discretion. I was not sure whether the team members
were part of the companies staff or the employees personal staff. It was other employees of the company
she charged dinner to the company card for I would need explanation of why that was against policy.
However, based of the details given I was able to choose the most beneficial outcome for the company.

3. Explain one of the decision-making scenarios you were given in this level and analyze it in terms
of one of this week’s theories.
(Note: for full credit, be sure you name the theory you are using, explain the theory fully, and then
explain how the scenario illustrates that theory)

In the downsize scenario I feel discourse ethics could have been utilized for a better outcome. Discourse
ethics democratize businesses and allows for all parties to be heard and for additional solutions to be
offered and created through discourse. After realizing a solution was not possible, if a meeting with
representatives of both the new guys and old guys could meet and use the dialectical opposition for a
positive then they could come to a solution with an ethical consensus. Possibly certain senior individuals
could take training to expand their expertise while offering the newer employees advice on what they
have experience in.

4. How could you use the concepts discussed in this simulation in your job today? Relate these
concepts to the other course materials and to your own experiences.
(Note: for full credit, be sure discuss a specific scenario, a specific example from your own experiences,
and a specific connection to something you learned from the text)

The scenario regarding evaluations and placing employees into tiers has been a practice of the
industry I currently work in since it’s nexus. The pandemic eliminated this practice last year, but on
normal years Christmas week is known as the week for cuts in my industry. It seems cruel but due to
year end evaluations that just happens to be the time of year it falls on. It was interesting to be on the
other side of this decision and gain context of what it feels like to make these decisions and also gain
understanding of why these cuts take place. In my industry, the numbers are based solely on the
amount of volume you accumulate and year end evaluations are the most important and impactful of
all.
