MATERIALS NEEDED :
• Any yarn you want and appropriate crochet hook.

ABBREVIATIONS :
• Chain – ch
• Slip stitch - slst
• Single crochet – sc
• Increase – V
• Back loops only – BLO

PATTERN OF AMMONITE :
Important : To make the ribbed stitch, you have to crochet in BLO from the beginning to the end
of your work.

Row 1 : starting in second ch from hook, 2 sc (2), 1 ch, turn your work
Row 2 : 1 V, 1 sc (3), ch 1, turn your work
Row 3 : 3 sc (3), ch 1, turn your work
Row 4 : 1 sc, 1 V, 1 sc (4), ch 1, turn your work
Row 5 : 4 sc (4), ch 1, turn your work
Etc... to 30 sc or 36 sc for exemple, it depends on size you want.
DON'T FASTEN OFF NOW !

So, you understood : you have to increase once every 2 rows.

You have now a long triangle.

Join the 2 sides with flexible slst (as much as you need) and stuff all along your work. Don't stuff
too much cause you work have to be malleable.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. You have now a long cone.

To “close” the cone, crochet a circle with 30 sc if you finished triangle with 30 sc, crochet a circle
with 36 sc if you finished triangle with 36 sc, etc...
According to this pattern :

Row 1 : Magic circle, ch 1, 6 sc (6)

Row 2 : 1 V in next 6 sc (12)
Row 3 : *1 sc, 1 V* x 6 (18)
Row 4 : 1 sc, 1 V then *2 sc, 1 V* x 5, then 1 sc (24)
Row 5 : *3 sc, 1 V* x 6 (30)
Row 6 : 2 sc, 1 V then *4 sc, 1 V* x 5, then 2 sc (36)
Etc… as long as you need sc.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing circle on the top of the cone, like this :
