RESEARCH 2
(QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH)
FIRST SEMESTER
FIRST QUARTER
SY 2021-2022
Dedicating our lives to research means making study and experiment our
profession, these activities lead to the acquisition of knowledge.
Writing a Research Title
The title of the research is the reserch problem or inquiry in a capsule
form/pyramid type. Great care must be taken in the formulation of the
research title. It must clearly reflect the topic of investigation and it must be
original, clear, concise or specific. When you finally decide on a
research topic, make sure that your research topic and research question
match. Too broad topics will lead you nowhere.
Broad Topics
Broad Topics should always be narrowed down.
Example:
Blended Learning in English Classes
Presidential Election Results
Agri-business
Social Networking
Vegetarianism
Specific Topics
Specific topics are researchables
Example:
The Inrtoduction states briefly the background of the study and identifies
the rationale of the research problem. It begins with the general statement
of the problem, then focuses on a specific problem or issue, framing said
problem within the existing literature, pointing out the deficiencies in the
literature and targeting the study for evidence or proof.
Historical development
Cultural developments
The following will guide you in writing the background of your study:
Direct quotation must not be written as the first paragraph; instead this
can be rephrased to add substance to details of the problem.
The succeeding paragraph must come from the researcher/s. This must
not be copied from any article.
Describe the problem situation by considering global, national, and local
forces. Discussion should be from general to specific. Emphasize
situations using facts and statistics. This discussion must have sources.
Follow referencing format using APA style.
In the local scenario, cites the observations, local studies and the like.
There must be emphasis on the local scenario to warrant the existence
of the research. More discussion and description must be seen on this
part. Statistics should even be cited for more emphasis.
End with the main objective of the study.
The scope and delimitation of the study sets boundaries and parameters of
the problem inquiry and narrows down the scope of inquiry and clarifies or
defines terms used. This scope is the domain of your research – what is in
the domain and what is not. You need to make as clear as possible what
you will be studying and what factors are within the accepted range of your
study.

V. WRAP UP
The usefulness of quantitative research in daily life is that, providing
solutions to problems and shedding light on situations, concerns, issues
encountered in daily life.
Your research title must be specific because broadly stated topics lead
nowhere. The background of the research states the rationale of the study,
as well as the surrounding circumstances why the study was undertaken.
The statement of the problem is more clearly shown through the research
questions which show the focus of the research study. The scope and
delimitation sets boundaries and parameters of the study. The significance
of the study, on the other hand, cites the benefits of the study as well as its
beneficiaries.
VI. VALUING
Reseach affects society and the lives of each one of us each day of our
lives. The way we perceive the world, the way we experience relationships
with others, the wat society is organized and governed and a lot more are
influence by the ever expanding frontiers of knowledge. For us to make
sense of our world and even of our own lives, we need research to answer
the phenomena.
VII. ACTIVITY

specific titles.
