The project aims to design and construct a solution within six months to support a sinking cooling tower for a live factory for under $1,000,000. Deliverables include exploring why the tower is sinking, designing a new steel support structure and concrete slab, and completing construction by milestones ending in final inspection by January. Requirements include meeting codes, using an owner's geotech and steel inspector, using at least 4,000 PSI concrete, and supporting over 100,000 pounds. Assumptions include building to the approved design, the owner providing inspectors and preferred subcontractors, and the general contractor submitting permits and warranties upon completion.

Prepared By Tyler Hubertus Project Objectives and Justifications To design and construct a solution to a sinking cooling tower that supports a live factory within a six-month time frame. The design must include a new support platform and steel suspension system that is not to exceed $1,000,000. Deliverables Exploratory work and solution as to why the cooling tower is sinking. A design showing the construction of the solution (i.e., drawings and a 3D model of the new structure). A steel support system that will level the cooling tower and prevent further sinking. A 3,000 square foot concrete slab to replace the diminishing platform that will support the cooling tower. Supporting documentation of all inspections and warranties Milestones 1. Excavation and Storm Water Prevention Permits approved – July 1st 2. Exploratory work of the foundation complete – September 1st 3. Designs and modeling complete and approved – October 1st 4. Excavations and groundwork complete – October 15th 5. Rebar complete – October 30th 6. Concrete platform Poured – November 2nd 7. Support beams complete – November 15th 8. Final steel suspension in place and complete December 5th 9. Final ground assessment complete – December 15th 10. Final closeout inspection complete – January 5th Requirements 1. Structure must meet State and city codes. 2. Ground assessment and groundwork to be signed off by Owners preferred Geotech. 3. All steel must past the owners preferred vendor for steel inspections. 4. Concrete must be 4,000 psi (Pounds Per Square Inch) or greater. 5. Support system must support 100,000 pounds or greater. 6. Structure must pass seismic stability codes. Assumptions and Constraints 1. The construction of the new concrete pad and steel support system will be built in accordance with the design blueprints that are approved by the customer prior to construction. 2. Owner is responsible for providing a Geotech for all groundwork. 3. Owner is responsible for additional funding needed pending the findings of the ground assessment. 4. Owner is responsible for providing a steel inspector for all welds. 5. Owner is responsible for providing a list of preferred subcontractors. 6. General Contractor reserves the right to contract out services to customers preferred subcontractors. 7. General Contractor responsible for subcontracted work. 8. General Contractor will submit all permits, plans, and warranties to customer at the completion of project. 9. General Contractor may request more time for design pending the findings of the ground conditions. 10. General Contractor is not responsible for a delay in schedule due to inclement weather. 11. All inspections will pass per code and documentation will be submitted to the owner. 12. Site work is limited to Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
