ELECTRONIC WORKSHOP & PCB LAB (NEC- 352)

Experiment No. 5

OBJECT: Fitting of power supply along with a meter in the cabinet.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:

1. Cabinet
2. Millimeter
3. Voltmeter
4. Wire

THEORY:

In wiring & fitting shop, we assemble different parts(main PCB, T x,

different controls, meters) in a cabinet to provide best look to the system. In wiring
diagram, layout describes the connectivity among different electronics components.
These diagrams are used in connection with assembly or maintenance & as design
layouts.

PROCEDURE FOR FITTING A POWER SUPPLY INSIDE A CABINET:

1. Use a cabinet of wood or metal in order to occupy PCB, T x, milliammeter &

voltmeter.
2. Make a hole on the front face of cabinet for holding power (on/off) switch,
indicator, milliammeter & voltmeter.
3. Mount transformer on the base of cabinet using spacers, nuts, & screws.
4. Mount PCB on the base of cabinet using spacers, nuts, & screws such that
component layout side is at the top.
5. Connect mains cord to the primary of Tx & secondary of Tx should be soldered
on PCB
6. Connect milliammeter (0 to 25 ma). In series with load.

7. Connect voltmeter (0 to 10 volt) in shunt of load.
8. Keep wire length for connecting meters, fuse & indicators, long enough so that
during any disassembling wires do not break from solder point.
9. If the cabinet is metallic, the ground on PCB connected to the metal chassis &
Tx metallic body.

PRECAUTIONS:
1) Test device carefully.
2) Do not touch any line wire.
