Chingay Festival in Johor Bahru

The Chingay parade in Johor is held annually (except for the year 2020 due to Covid-19 virus
outspread) by the Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple on the 21st day of the first month of the
Lunar New Year since the 1870. It is joined by the five main clans in the state, which are
Cantonese, Hainanese, Hakka, Hokkien and Teochew.
In the past, Johor Bahru Chingay parade has drawn crowds around 400,000 people and has
been recognised by the Malaysia National Cultural Heritage since 2012.
During the Chingay parade, there will be various activities such as lion dance, dragon dance,
decorated trucks parade and the crowds worshipping the deities from the Old Chinese Temple
carried by the clans through the parade.

I like the Chingay parade because I love to see the lion and dragon dance. They
are very lively and adorable.
