Suggest short- and long-term solutions to address the problems caused by a

natural disaster that occurs in Vietnam
Climate change is taking place more and more seriously and as a result natural
disasters such as floods are occurring more and more and more destructive. Flood
is an inevitable natural disaster and many countries around the world have been
severely damaged. This article will show problem,short-term and long-term
solutions.

Flood is a common natural disaster in Vietnam so the consequences of floods are

enormous. Firstly, the floods have injured and disabled thousands of people so
they lose the ability to earn money after returning to normal life and this is also a
burden on some families. What's worse is that there are hundreds of people dead
and missing after being swept away by floodwaters. These people died either
because they were not able to swim. Many missing people have not been found
despite the government's large-scale searches. Second, the Floods destroyed
millions of homes and schools and damaged critical infrastructure, including
electricity and roads that serve people here. Most of the houses that were
destroyed were quite old and poorly built.Flooding is a natural disaster that is
difficult to prevent but we can limit the damage with different solutions.
A flood is a natural disaster that cannot be avoided, but with short-term solutions,
we can limit some of the damage. First, we can use sand-bagging to prevent
floodwaters. The sandbag structure does not prevent water from seeping in so its
main purpose is to divert floodwater around or away from the buildings. However,
sand-bagging has disadvantages. The drawback is time-consuming. Sandbags
need to be sewn to a certain standard and it takes several people to fill them with
sand or soil. The second solution that countries often use is to install early warning
devices, from which it is possible to continuously monitor sea levels and give
alarms to people. People in the city had enough time to evacuate to safety.
Although there are many advantages, the disadvantage of this alarm is sometimes

false alarms because of system problems or human-caused and with many false
alarms, when there is a real alarm, people ignore and do not heed the warnings
given. The above solutions only be used for a short time, so we must take long-
term measures

Short-term solutions are only temporary measures and we need long-term

solutions. The first measure is that we can build dams to prevent floods. Thanks to
the huge dams that allow the tide to rise and fall but can still be closed during
storms, we can easily control the water flow and prevent large floods from the sea.
However, the construction of these dams is very expensive to construct and the
most important thing is that these dams will change the ecology of that area
because we have to divert the water in a different direction. The second measure
that we can take is resettlement. We will build a residential area in a safe place
and people can continue to live in the new area without worrying about the floods.
This is a good idea when it comes to ideas. However, people's psychology is a big
barrier. People will be uncomfortable migrating because they find it difficult to find
a suitable job and salary when they arrive in a new residential area, and it will take
time for them to get used to their new life.

To sum up, flood is a highly destructive natural disaster for many countries around
the world. However, with short-term measures in the short term and long-term
measures in the more distant future, people will certainly control floods.
