INSERT
What is the function of insert?
 The insert tab is used to insert or add extra features to the document, such as pictures,
shapes, pages, symbols, etc. Icons and text are used to identify these options. Most of
these options have a drop down menu for additional features.
 Insert pictures, tables, and more to liven up your document, then align your text with
these new elements. On the INSERT tab, you can add pictures, shapes, SmartArt
graphics, tables, and more to take your document to the next level.

The Insert tab contains various items that you may want to insert into
the document such as; pages, tables, illustrations, add-ins, media, links
comments, header & footer, text, and lastly, symbols.

PAGES
Cover Page
What is the use of cover page?
 The function of a title or cover page is that it allows the reader to identify your work at a
glance, but it can also help your assignments to look neater and more professionally
put-together.

Blank page
What is the use of blank page?
 The blank page opens, ready for whatever you want to add. Another option when you
need a little space is to insert a page break.

Page break
What is the use of page break?
 A page break is a special marker that will end the current page and start a new one.

TABLES

What is the function of table?


 It allows you to organize your information, i.e you can align text, present numerical data
and create forms and calendar.

Pictures
What is the function of pictures?
 This function allows you to place an image file on a document page in a location of
choosing. Word allows you to insert pictures into your document such as logos of
companies, photos and other pictures to give more interest or a more professional
speed(look) to your document.

Online Pictures
What is the function of online pictures?
 “Online pictures” allows you to insert images from an internet-based source such as clip
art from Office.com, Bing, or OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive).

Shapes
What is the function of shapes?
 Microsoft Word has a special feature called shapes in which users can insert many
different types of shapes in the document. A shape highlights the important item of the
document. It attracts the attention of the readers for a better understanding of the
content of the document.

SmartArt
What is the function of SmartArt?
 SmartArt allows you to visually communicate your important ideas and information. For
example, you can use SmartArt graphics to depict processes, hierarchies, relationships
and so on. By using SmartArt to communicate information, you can create visually
appealing diagrams that can say so much more than words alone.

Chart
What is the function of chart?

 A chart is a tool you can use to communicate data graphically. Including a chart in your
document can allow your reader to see the meaning behind the numbers, and it can
make showing comparisons and trends easier.

Screenshot
What is the function of screenshot?
 Screenshots let you capture exactly what you’re seeing on your screen to share with
others or reference later. Taking, saving and sharing screenshots can be extremely
helpful.

ADD-INS
Add-ins
What is the function of add-ins?
 An add-in is a supplemental program that adds custom commands or features to an
application. An add-in is a term used for a software utility added to a primary program.
In other words, add-ins are mini applications that extend what you can do with
Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, when you enable an add-in, it adds custom
commands and new features that help increase your productivity.

MEDIA
Online Video
What is the function of Online Videos?
 Insert online videos that you can watch right in Word without having to leave the
document. (hiii~ nay jenny! Ito optional lang ‘to its up to you!
Charr, Kung gusto mo pa to isulat o hindi^^: To insert the video and play the video, you
must be connected to the internet. The video plays directly from the website, and it has
the site’s controls for playing, pausing, volume, and so on.)

What is the function of links?

 You can add hyperlinks to your document that give your readers instant access to
information in another part of the same document. The hyperlink can be text or
graphics. By using hyperlinks, you can provide information to your readers without
repeating the same information on different pages.

COMMENTS
Comment
What is the function of comment?
 Adding a comment to a document is like writing a note in the page’s margin. You can
use Word’s comments feature to add suggestions, notes, or reminders to your
documents. Comments appear in boxes at the side of the page.
 Word’s insert comment feature lets you add notes, request changes or question
information in a Word document while keeping your notes completely in line with the
text itself.

Header & Footer


What is function of Header & Footer?
 Headers and footers generally contain additional information such as page numbers,
dates, an author’s name, and footnotes, which can help keep longer documents
organized and make them easier to read. Text entered in the header or footer will
appear on each page of the document.

TEXT
The insert text function allows you to add characters to your document without overwriting
the work you have previously done.
Text box
A text box is an object you can add to your document that lets you put and type text anywhere
in your file. Text boxes can be useful for drawing attention to specific text and can also be
helpful when you need to move text around in your document.
Quick Parts
GROUP 5 (INSERT)

You can save selected text into a library and insert it into emails and documents. It works well
with MS Word templates as a clause library to select and reuse text and images. Quick Parts are
powerful and can save a lot of time.
WordArt
WordArt is a gallery of text styles that you can add to your publications to create decorative
effects, such as shadowed or mirrored (reflected) text. You can use WordArt to add special text
effects to your document.
Drop Cap
A drop cap (dropped capital) is a large capital letter used as a decorative element at the
beginning of a paragraph or section. The size of a drop cap is usually two or more lines.
Signature Line
A signature line provides you, or somebody else, with a location to sign a printed document. If
you’re planning on printing your Word document, adding a signature line is probably the easiest
way for you to add a signature.

SYMBOLS
In Word, you can insert mathematical symbols into equations or text by using the equation
tools.
