Introductory Message

Welcome to TVL 11 - IA (Electrical Installation and Maintenance)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Kabankalan City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults)
in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is a self-directed instructional material aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TVL 11 - IA (Electrical Installation and Maintenance) Activity Sheet

will help you facilitate the teaching-learning activities specified in each Most
Essential Learning Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter
between you and the learner. This will be made available to the learners with the
references/links to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The TVL 11 - IA (Electrical Installation and Maintenance) Activity Sheet is

developed to help you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning
material provides you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent
learning. Being an active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then
perform the activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your
facilitator on the agreed schedule.

Install Cable Bridge

I. Learning Competency with Code

LO 4. Install Cable Bridge

4.2 Install cable bridge according to the job requirements following PEC and
NEC (TLE_IAEI9-12RC-IVf-j-4)

II. Background Information for Learners

Cable tray can be used as a support system for branch circuits, service conductors,
feeders, services, communication circuits, control circuits, and signaling circuits. It
is not limited to industrial locations. If it is exposed to direct sunlight then jacketed
cables or insulated conductors that are sunlight resistant must be used. ( NEC
392.3)

NEC 392.6 Installation

The cable tray system must be installed completely as a system before the
cables are installed, have the proper supports, and have covers where required.
Multiconductor cables can be installed in the same tray if 600 V or less. Cables over
600 V cannot be installed with cables under 600 V, with two exceptions. The cable
trays must be exposed and accessible and have room around them for adequate
access. They can go through partitions, walls, and floors if installed in accordance
with Section 300.21 (proper and approved firestopping methods used). Incidental
support from cable tray is permitted where approved and designed to support the
load. Additional requirements are noted

NEC 392.8Cable Installation

1. Splices are permitted if approved methods are used, they are accessible, and
are not over the side rails.
2. Cables must be fastened in sloping or vertical runs.
3. If the cable is installed in a bushed conduit and tubing for protection or
support, a box is not required.
4. If installed in parallel, the conductors must be grouped with one conductor per
phase in each group. Single conductors must be bound in circuit groups.
5. Single conductors.
