In 2018, I completed the diploma course in business, gaining a final GPA of 5.

63, and received my degree

in September of the same year. I finished my bachelor studies in international relations with a final GPA
of 5.61, with the corresponding degree’s conferring having occurred in April 2021. As for the honours
program in political science, completion took place in December 2021 with a final GPA of 6.0, and
received my degree in April of this year. I underwent an internship with UC’s careers office from August
to November 2020, and assisted with planning process for a virtual career fair that took place in March
2021. I researched and reviewed potential virtual platforms, and participated in the selection of
participating businesses and organizations. The internship also refreshed my multitasking skills, as the
placement occurred during the final semester of my bachelor studies, and I received positive
commendations from my supervisors at the end of the program.

The internship may be my only professional work experience, yet this does not mean I lack distinct and
necessary skills and non-formal experience for employment in fields relevant to my studies. Despite a
lack of involvement in organizations throughout my university career, I had been extremely active during
my high school years, being a longtime member of my school’s student council. I had been elected to
positions such as student representative and public relations officer. Through these, I had gained
experience in liaison, administration, and liaison. It was also through involvement in the council that I
was exposed to ‘real-life’ consequences in decision-making, as during my tenure as PRO I was required
to organize meetings with external sponsors, and negotiate comprehensively to secure funding for the
council’s events. Failure would have impacted the council severely, as well I my removal from the office.
My time in the council also allowed me to gain experience in conflict resolution, as I was required to
negotiate extensively with the student body to build rapport throughout the first two years after its
founding.

My career aspirations are inseparable to political science as a core interest. In fact, I have set a long-
term goal that I aim to fulfill with the next 5-10 years, which to secure employment within the United
Nations (UN), or any organizations under its jurisdiction. I am still rather unsure on the exact position or
organization I am going to apply to by then, yet these would remain inseparable to fields such as policy
analysis, regional diplomacy, and other sub-fields in relation to this. As long-term goals need to be in par
with its short-term counterparts, I understand that the career choices I make within the next ten years
would need to aid with the plan I have made. In support of this, I intend to apply to roles in fields such
as administration and politics (e.g. offices of MPs or Senators, where possible) as a means of equipping
myself with the skills and experience needed for my long-term aspirations. Additionally, the presence of
embassies and international organizations in Canberra also means that these institutions are place into
consideration as well. In a closing note, I also place networking events, held by organizers such us
CBRIN, The Canberra Diplomatic Club, etc. as important means of gaining professional connections, and
through these, potential employment.
