QUEEN VALERA BIBLE STORY

CASIODORO DE REINA
Not much is known about Casiodoro de Reina,
he is only known by the name he received
after taking monastic vows, and added to this
hisplace of birth, he may have been born
around 1520.
 Despite the difficulties that he had to live all those years, at no
time did he cease in his efforts to translate the Bible into Spanish.
 In 1567 after having successfully completed the entire translation
of the old Testament, i travel to the city of basel to start the
publication work .
 On the placement of the books especially those of the old
Testament, Reina respected the order of the books of the latin
vulgate.
 The two editions, that of Casiodoro de Reina 1569 called the
bear Bible, and that of Cipriano de Valera 1602, call Bible of the
pitcher, it contained all the books included in the latin vulgate of
saint Jerónimo of Stridon, which was the official text of the Bible
for the catholic church until 1979.
 CIPRIANO DE VALERA

 The name of Cipriano de Valera, it is linked to that of Casiodoro


de Reina and that of the Bible in which both worked, one as a
translator and the other as a reviewer.
 Reina-Valera 1865 (RV1865) this translation was reviewed by the
united Bible Societes, and the review was done in Spanish.
 This Bible was published for the next 58 years unitil the Reina-
Valera 1909 was published in the year 1923.
 REINA-VALERA 1909 (RV1909)
 Published by Oxford University, revised with various translations in
to the original hebreo and greek languages.
 Reina-Valera 1960 (RV1960)
 The revision of the Reina-Valera 1960 was carried out by a group
of Bibles scholars from various hispanic countries of various
religious denominations. All this without altering the basic
meaning of the biblical message and preserving the Reina text.
