DAILY LESSON LOG Grade Level NINE

Practice Teacher PATRICK C. GUERRA Learning Area MATHEMATICS
Teaching Date February 22, 2019 Quarter FOURTH
I. OBJECTIVES
Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of trigonometry.
The learners are able to apply the concepts of trigonometric ratios to formulate and

solve real – life problems with precision and accuracy.
Learning Competencies/ At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
Objectives (Write the 1. Define angle of elevation;
LC code for each) 2. Apply the basic trigonometric ratios in solving problems involving angle of
elevation; and
3. Relate the use of angle of elevation in real – life situation.

Mt. Pinatubo casts 6,000 meter shadow where the angle of elevation of the sun is

and practicing new skills 1. Were you able to answer the activity?
#1 2. What mathematical concepts did you apply in the activity?
3. What formula did you use to find how tall is Mt. Pinatubo?
Discussing new concepts Abstraction
and practicing new skills Class, what is your idea about line of sight? When we say line of sight is an
#2 imaginary line that connects the eye of an observer to the object being observed.
And if we say angle of elevation it is the angle from the horizontal to the line of
sight of the observer to the object above.

Example no. 1:
A lawyer who is standing 15 m from the foot of a building found that the angle of
elevation of the tower is 36°. What is the height of the building?

Solution:
Let x be the height of thebuilding.

By cross multiplication
x = 15 tan 36°
x = (15) (0.73)
x = 10.95
⁖The height of the building is equal to
10.95 meters.
Example no. 2:
From a point on the ground 47 feet from the foot of a tree, the angle of elevation
of the top of the tree is 35º. Find the height of the tree to the nearest foot.

Solution:
Let x be the height of the tree.

Solution:
Let x be the height of the kite above the ground.

100

By cross multiplication
x = 100 sin 25°
x = (100) (0.42)
x = 42
Since the hand of students is 3 feet above
x = 42 + 3
x = 45
⁖The height of the kite above the ground is 45 feet
Developing Mastery Application
Needs to Formative The class will be group into three. Each group will be performing different task.
Assessment 3 I will give each group 5 minutes to prepare for the task and another 3 minutes for
the presentation. Each group should make a yell and you’re going to present your
yell when your group is done with the task. The group with the best yell will
receive additional points.

GROUP I: THE MATH CLASHERS

A hiker is 400 m away from the base of the tower. The angle of elevation to the
top of the tower is 46°. How high is the tower?
GROUP II: THE MATH WIZARDS
Liza saw an airplane with the angle of elevation of 23º. The altitude of the plane
is 1200 meters. What is the distance of Liza from the airplane?

GROUP III: THE MATH GENUIS

Mark sees a bird sitting on the top of mango tree that is 8 m tall with the angle of
elevation of 28°. Mark wants to find how far the tree from him.
Providing practical Values Integration
