HOW TO
PLAN A
SCHEDULE
FOR
SOCIAL
MEDIA
One of the things I hear the most from business
owners is the desire for more time. I get it. I wish I had an
extra few hours in my day, too. I mean, if I had just one
more hour in my day, I could probably build the eighth
world wonder in my backyard. Or at least shower before
5pm.
But since we’re only granted 24 hours, let’s chat about
how we make the most of it, shall we? I’ve discovered
that when I plan for success, I’m successful. That
sounds simple, but planning is the first step to
accomplishing precisely what you want.
Speaking of steps, let’s break this down into an easy
step-by-step process so you can plan a schedule for
social media.

This is my favorite monthly activity when it
comes to social media. It’s probably because I am the
type of person who looks for any excuse to have a
party. Wait, did you say it’s Groundhog’s Day?
PAR-TAY TIME!! In all seriousness, understanding
social events for the month is an incredibly helpful tool
when it comes to creating and sharing content.

Step Three
Break the
Month into
Weeks
Once I have an overview of social media for
the month, I outline how I will execute my plan one
week at a time (but, hey, if you can manage more
than one week at a time, rock on with your bad
self!). Every Sunday, I plan my content for the
week, and typically incorporate: one event-related
post, t h r e e work-related posts, and three curated
posts.
Enclosed is my Weekly Social Media To Do list, so
feel free to print it out and use it every week!

P.S. LOVE,
JASMINE
I used to think the goal of social media was to get a
lot of followers who liked me. I thought it was important
to feel the same way LeBron James feels when he lifts a
trophy above his head, or when Taylor Swift holds a
microphone. Basically, I thought social media was
supposed to make me feel like a badass.
In a short amount of time, I realized social media just
made me feel bad.
I compared my accounts to others, wondered why I
wasn’t getting new followers, and believed my life
wasn’t half as cool as my peers (but, really, how ARE
they so cool?!). Yeah, bad.
I finally realized the goal of social media was just to
be social. That’s it. It’s simply to show up for those
who are patiently waiting for what you have to share
online. It doesn’t have to be thousands of followers. My
job--your job--is to talk to those who are at your social
party. Make them your friends, pour them punch, turn up
the music.
Basically, dance with those who showed up. They’re
there. Waiting. Shake what your mama gave you and
have fun along the way.
