Notice statements
Notices in this guide are defined as follows:

Note
These notices provide important tips, guidance, or advice.

Important
These notices provide information or advice that might help you avoid inconvenient or
problem situations.

Attention
These notices indicate potential damage to programs, devices, or data. An attention notice
is placed just before the instruction or situation in which damage could occur.

CAUTION
These statements indicate situations that can be potentially hazardous to you. A caution
statement is placed just before the description of a potentially hazardous procedure step
or situation.

DANGER
These statements indicate situations that can be potentially lethal or extremely hazardous
to you. A danger statement is placed just before the description of a potentially lethal or
extremely hazardous procedure step or situation.

Handling static-sensitive devices

Observe the following precautions to reduce the possibility of electrostatic discharge.
Attention: Static electricity can damage electronic devices. To avoid damage, keep static-
sensitive devices in their static-protective packages until you are ready to install them.
• Limit your movement. Movement can cause static electricity to build up around you.
• Handle the device carefully, holding it by its edges or its frame.
• Do not touch solder joints, pins, or exposed circuitry.
• Do not leave the device where others can handle and damage it.
• While the device is still in its static-protective package, touch it (through the static-
protective package) to an unpainted metal part of the POS device for at least 2 seconds.
This drains static electricity from the package and from your body.
• Remove the device from its package and install it immediately without setting down
the device. If it is necessary to set down the device, put it back into its static-protective
package. Do not place the device on a cover or on a metal surface.
• Take additional care when handling devices during cold weather. Heating reduces
indoor humidity and increases static electricity.

Updating Signal Light firmware when the IPL Firmware is V01.00
Special attention is needed when then signal light IPL is still V01.00. This is an older version, and it is not
compatible with the KOP3x configuration utility.
When using KOP3x configuration utility, and the Signal light firmware information shown like below. We
should not try to update using the utility. Most of the time it will failed and even if it was able to
download it will take unexpectedly long time (more than 10 minutes).

We might need to refreshed (“Menu” button -> “Refresh”) to retrieve the firmware version.

IPL V01.00 to V01.01

To update Signal Light IPL, please use the attached test tool.

The steps are quite simple:

1. Unzip the “KOP3XFlash_V1.04.02_TAL_IPL_update.zip”
2. Make sure the Signal Light is connected
3. Run the batch file “light_ipl_update_v0101.bat”
It is recommended to use this utility only with this batch file.

IPL V01.00 to newer than V01.01 (future reference)

For future reference when there is a newer IPL firmware than V01.01 but the signal firmware is
still V01.00.
For general user:
1. Update signal light from V01.00 to V01.01 using steps described in section 2.5.1
2. Using KOP3x configuration utility to update the ipl from V01.01 to the new version
(V01.xx)

For advance user:
