6 interesting facts about the Scotish Kilt
1. In total, you can expect to pay about 600 pounds for the kilt and other
accessories, which is as expensive as a premium quality tailor-made suit.
2. It’s believed that a “true Scotsman” doesn’t wear underwear under his kilt.
But that is not always true, especially during the chilly months of winter and
fall.
3. Some people believe that kilts are only worn by bagpipe-playing men and
Royal Guards, but that is not true. Kilts can be worn by anyone, on the street,
to graduations, to weddings or any other occasions.
4. The kilt is more than a fashion statement! It is typically worn in a Tartan
Pattern. This tartan comes from the family, or clan that the Scotsman is from.
It is a way to represent a person’s heritage and culture.
5. The kilt was once worn by warriors because it afforded them greater ease
of movement, and at night when it got cold, they could unwrap it and sleep
under it like a blanket.
6. Bonnie Knees is a traditional contest that involves blindfolding three
women that will judge the knees of men in kilts. Using only their sense of
touch, men are judged based on how handsome their knees feel.
