Activity for today:

1. Research on the general principles in language arts teaching.

- Principle 1: Know your Learners
English teachers should understand the students’ personal and educational background so
they can tailor classes according to their students’ needs more effectively

Principle 2: Create Conditions for Language Learning

Creating a positive atmosphere in class considering physical space, materials, and student
integration promotes better learning experiences for English students.

Principle 3: Design High-Quality Lessons for Language Development

Creating meaningful and exceptional lesson plans that develop the students’ language
acquisition and their content learning process remains essential.

Principle 4: Adapt Lesson Delivery as Needed

Assessing students and adapting lesson plans accordingly remains a must. Reflecting on the
students’ performance and development improves the quality of many English lessons.

Principle 5: Monitor and Assess Student Language Development

Outstanding ESL/EFL teachers also monitor and assess students’ language development to
measure and document progress.  English students learn in different ways and speed.

Principle 6: Engage and Collaborate Within a Community of Practice

This last principle suggests English teachers should collaborate with each other to support
their English language learners. Sharing classroom experiences, reflecting critically on
teaching practices, following current ELT research, joining and engaging in professional
groups, attending academic conferences, and engaging in online learning groups are all ways
to be active within a community of practice

2. Explain how these principles are used in teaching.

This principles can be used in teaching by understanding my students’ background
information helps teachers to prepare lessons that are interesting and relevant from the
students’ perspective, considering their personality, personal goals, past experiences, and
their strengths and weaknesses. creating positive moments in class has always been valuable
to motivate my students so they associate studying a second language with positive feelings
and designing and implementing meaningful lessons and individualized activities taking into
consideration the students feelings by being sensitive and attentive. Monitoring and
assessing students informally also worked for the students with learning barriers.

3. Research on the structure of K-12 language arts curriculum.

In the K-12 curriculum language acquisition and learning required active
participation from learners.Successful language learning involves viewing, which is
new a component of the Language Arts and Multiliteracies curriculum.
The other components are listening, speaking reading and writing. Though the

understanding and learning other content areas and finding for themselves different
field of endeavor through communicative competence and multiliteracies.
The K-12 languages program presents the six language teaching principles namely,
spiral progression, interaction, integration, learner-centeredness, contextualization
and construction. With all these principles coupled with the three major applications
of the macroskills of the language, effective language use will be in its full blast.
The K-12 English 1 to 10 language programs gear towards understanding cultures
understanding language and application of processes and strategies which can make
the 21st learners globally competitive, communicatively competent and equipped
with life and career skills. These skills will make them better individuals and
