Piston Pumps for Oil

The pumps shown in this brochure can be mechanically operated by any moving part of a machine, but care must be taken to ensure that
the piston always fully extends. This is necessary because the suction ports are opened by the piston at the end of its stroke. On request,
these pumps can also be supplied for hydraulic operation.
Fitting instructions
After the pump has been temporarily positioned, loosen the set screw and place a 0.1 mm thick shim between the plunger and the
operating device (eccentric wheel, cam or the like). Then operate the pump until the upper dead center of the operating device is reached
and tighten the set screw. Care must be taken to lubricate the plunger.

This pump is used for small central lubrication systems.
Keep main line to the distributors as short as possible and rising
from pump to distributors.
The number of lubrication points should not exceed eight.
A safety valve should be mounted downstream from the
set screw

The system capacity ) should not exceed two-thirds of the output
per full stroke to ensure the required spare capacity for the
pressure build-up in the system.
Always fit pump with pressure port pointing upwards.
Fully extend pump stroke, i.e. both extremities must be reached.

Feed pumps

With variable output and number of strokes, these pumps permit
universal application, e.g. filling of pressure reservoirs for general
purposes and oil reservoirs for lubrication systems.
They are not fitted with release valves and thus are not suitable
for direct connection to distributor systems.

Start-up and maintenance of a system Maintenance:

Fill the reservoir with oil and operate the pump several times at
2-3 second intervals until oil emerges from all lubrication points. A
well-routed system bleeds itself!
The bleeding process is promoted by
– opening the ends of the main line until bubble-free oil emerges;
– topping up long lubrication lines – especially those of distribu-
tion points with small metered quantities – prior to connection
to the lubrication points.
1. Check oil level and top up reservoir in time!
Use branded oils according to machine maker’s instructions. If
nothing else is specified, use oil with a rated viscosity between
15 and 150 mm2/s at 40 °C ambient temperature. Always use
strainer when topping up!
2. After extended period of operation, tighten all connections and
check that oil emerges from all lubrication points when oper-
ating the pump.
Only VOGEL spare parts should be used.
Never clamp a pump in a vise!
