The suling is a musical instrument of the Sudanese people in western Java, Indonesia.

It is
used in the Degung ensemble. The flute can also be found in Southeast Asia, especially in

Angklung belongs to Sundanese people and originates from West Java.

Angklung is a traditional music instrument which is often performed at world concerts or

world music performances. It is made of some bamboo tubes which are attached to a
bamboo frame. Those tubes are carved so that they will have resonant pitch. One hand
holds the frame while another hand shakes the instrument. The sound is produced by
shaking the instrument so the bamboo tubes collide with each other.

Sasando is a traditional musical instrument from East Nusa Tenggara and is made out of
bamboo and palm leaves. (By the 18th century, more strings were added and the number
increased from 24 to 28. Nowadays, 32 to 48 strings are being used in a Sasando.)

Sasando is played using both hands and plucking the strings in opposite directions. The
right-hand plays the chord, while the left-hand picks the melody and bass. It requires a
particular set of skills to play Sasando. Here is a video example

In Indonesia, Kolintang is known as a wooden percussion instrument originating from the

Minahasa area in North Sulawesi.

Kolintang or kulintang is a musical instrument, consisting rows of horizontally-placed small

gongs, that’s usually accompanied by a larger hanging gong and drum during a
performance.

Kolintang is played by striking a cloth-wrapped wooden stick against it. It is usually a part of
the musical performances held during traditional Minahasa ceremonies such as the worship
of the spirits of the ancestors. However, under the influence of several religions and cultures,
Kolintang changed its function and is used as a musical instrument in performing arts.
