Minor Project

• Project Name:
Nano Technology August Minor Project
• Project Description:
Write a detail report on the following topics each containing minimum of 1000 words
each. The report should include the working principle, applications, recent
developments, and your input on what can be done to make it suitable for different
applications.
1) Write down 5 different techniques for synthesis of nanomaterials
2) Any 2 techniques used for preparing nano thin films
3) 20 differences between light, electron and scanning probe microscopes
When preparing these documents, the first thing that you should do is read carefully
what it is that you are being asked to write and who for. Check the word limit and
follow same style of font throughout the report. You can refer any journal papers for
writing.
Guidelines:
All written work should be in a formal style and not contain slang or colloquial English.
Avoid using contractions (“didn’t”, “wasn’t”) and avoid possessive apostrophes for
inanimate objects, e.g., avoid phrases such as “the sample’s temperature”, “the
material’s properties”, etc.
Remember that the word “data” is a plural term, i.e. “the data are” and not “the data
is”
For all pieces of work, the general structure is abstract, introduction, results and
discussion, conclusion, references, figure caption.
Referencing your work accurately is important; even a short journal article may have
20 references. Start using a reference management software package (such as
Reference Manager or EndNote) as soon as possible. It is recommended that you use
the ACS citation style for your work.
Take care to check that your spelling and grammar is correct – if you are unclear as to
whether you have written something correctly, feel free to ask for advice.
Unlike these instructions do not use bullet points in your written submissions - bullet
points are passable in posters and presentations but have no place in written text.
