II. Font
- Type - Times New Roman
- Size - 12 (titles, subtopics/subheadings, body, references and appendices)
IV. Margin
- Top, right and bottom margins set to 1”
- Left margin set to 1.5” to have allowance for book binding
V. Page Numbers
- Lowercase Roman numerals for the preliminaries, bottom page, centered.
- Arabic numbering for the succeeding part which includes all contents from
introduction to references.
- Page numbers should be at the top, right- most of the pages
VI. Spacing
- Body should be double-spaced except for the abstract content
- All headings and subheadings, including main chapter titles, should be single-
spaced.
- Two (2) double space at the start of subheadings
- Labels for figures, tables and their captions are single-spaced.
VIII. Abstract
- Brief description of a completed or proposed study.
- It should serve as an overview of the whole paper.
- It should indicate points to be given emphasis in reading the paper.
- It should be concise but complete (maximum of 250 words).
- It should give numerical and statistical information without giving explanations
- It should be informative and not interpretative.
- No figures, tables or inset quotes, references, acronyms, paraphrasing or direct
quotations are allowed in the abstract.
- All numbers in the abstract (except those beginning a sentence) should be
typed as digits rather than words.
- It should be written in past tense except for hypothesis and conclusion.
- Remember, while the Abstract is the first part of the paper to be seen or read, it
is usually the last to be finalized.
IX. Introduction
- It provides the background (definitions, related information and previous
studies) of the study.
- It should be paraphrased with author/s properly cited
- Salient/relevant points by an author should be summarized into a paragraph.
Hence, no author/s should be cited in numerous paragraphs, repetitively.
- All authors should be cited to avoid plagiarism.
- Reflect all authors in the “References” section.
IX. Conclusions
- It should include the significant conclusions and the conditions where such
conclusions are valid.
IX. Recommendations
- It should contain recommendations for improvement (i.e. procedure,
equipment, sampling etc..)
IX. References
- Use “References” and not “bibliography” as label
- Use APA referencing.
- Must be one- is- to- one correspondence with in-text citations
- Must have references coming from books, journals, theses and dissertations,
and never from electronic sources alone.
- Electronic sources, ideally, should still have the author’s name and title of the
article and not merely the URL or webpage address.
- References should be five years earlier only, unless phenomenon/variables/
concepts remain confined in a particular era more than five years earlier.
- Regardless of the type of publication, the bibliographical entries are arranged
alphabetically according to authors’ names.
