ABSTRACT

Trees has been very useful for the needs of human being, through trees, people

are able to produce a paper because of its characteristics. With the increasing demand

of the paper, this will lead to environmental destruction. Through this study, it will lessen

the usage of the trees in paper production. The researchers, Mcwill V. Antolin, Jowella J.

Bergado, Abelardo M. Bicedo II, Kc Camille L. Ilagan, Khim C. Linantud made this

research to produce a specialty paper that is made up of alternative raw materials such

as Snake plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata) fiber and to determine the effectiveness of a

product produced. The researchers wanted to promote the environment-friendly product.

With a few simple materials such as snake plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata) fiber, mold and

deckle, corn starch, blender, hydrogen peroxide and water, the researchers were able to

determine if Snake plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata) fiber can be an alternative raw

materials in producing a paper. In making the paper, the researcher used boiling,

bleaching, screening and drying process. Through conducting the four trials, the

researchers concluded that Snake plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata) fiber can be an

alternative raw material in producing a paper. Specifically, the paper that were produced

is a type of specialty paper.
