MILLIONS OF WOMEN, MEN, AND CHILDREN'S LIVES HAVE BEEN

ENHANCED BY OUR WORK ON SUSTAINABLE AQUACULTURE AND
FISHERIES FOR MORE THAN 45 YEARS.

MORE THAN 800 MILLION PEOPLE EARN A LIVING FROM FISH AND
OTHER AQUATIC FOODS GROWN IN AND HARVESTED FROM SEAS,
LAKES, RIVERS, AND PONDS, WHICH ALSO SUPPLY 20% OF THE
ANIMAL PROTEIN NEEDED BY 3.3 BILLION PEOPLE. OUR EMPHASIS
ON SUSTAINABILITY ENSURES THAT THE WAY WE PRODUCE AND
CONSUME THESE FOODS NOW ENSURES A PROSPEROUS FUTURE
FOR SUCCEEDING GENERATIONS.

OUR STRATEGIC APPROACH

We provide holistic thinking and scientific evidence to

transform aquatic food systems for healthy people and
the planet.
UPCOMING EVENTS
For nearly 30 years, Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) have benefitted millions across the world
with their fast growth.

Aquaculture is the most rapidly growing food production sector in the world, providing almost half of the
global fish supply. By 2030, it is estimated that aquaculture production will grow by 40 precent to satisfy
global fish demand. Tilapia, now the second most farmed fish in the world, has played an important role in the
growth of aquaculture and will continue to in the future

Aquaculture is the world’s fastest-growing food sector and is recognized for its potential to alleviate poverty
and hunger in small-scale systems. However, progress is limited by diseases and a lack of knowledge and tools
to identify fish pathogens, track their origin and manage their spread.
