Welcome to TLE 8 CSS Module 17: Plan an Approach for Components Testing and
Test Components!
This learning material hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs namely:
Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Character while
taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of
the module:
As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Moreover, you are expected to encourage and assist the
learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:
Welcome to TLE 8 CSS Module 17: Plan an Approach for Components Testing and
Test Components!
The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used to
depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a
learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant
competencies and skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in
your own hands!
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities
for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be
enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active
learner.
Lesson- This section will discuss the topic for this module.
PRE–TEST
DIRECTIONS: Read the statements carefully. Encircle the letter of the correct
answer.
1. What is an electronic device that provides electric energy to an electric load?
a. Voltmeter c. Ohmmeter
b. Power Supplies d. Ammeter
2. What is a equipment that can measures the three important basic electrical
features: voltage, current and resistance?
a. Multimeter c. Signal Generator
b. Digital Pattern Generator d. Oscilloscope
LESSON
Electronic Test Equipment
The electronic systems work on either continuous-time (CT) signals or
discrete-time (DT) signals. A continuous-time system is one in which the response
signals are defined along a continuum of time, such as an analogue signal which
“continues” over time creating a continuous-time signal. On the other hand, a
discrete-time system is one in which the input signals are not continuous but a
series of signal values defined in “discrete” points of time. This results in a discrete-
time output generally characterized as a sequence of values or numbers.
A. The following test equipment are basic tools used in evaluating electronic
component:
C. The following equipment used to analyze the response of the circuit under
test:
1. Oscilloscope – is used to monitor the changes of an electrical signal
based on time such that voltage and time represent a shape of the
signals and graphed continuously matched with a standardized scale. It
is also used for transforming non electrical signals such as vibration or
sound into voltages and then shows the result.
ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY 1
DIRECTIONS: Identify the statements below. Write your answer in the space
provided.
_______________ 1. It is used to quantity the difference of voltage or electrical
potential between two points in electrical circuits.
_______________ 2. It is used to calculate the inductance, capacitance and
resistance of electronics components.
_______________ 3. It is an equipment that can measure the three important basic
electrical features: voltage, current and resistance that can perform like voltmeter,
ohmmeter, and ammeter.
________________ 4. It is an electronic device used for producing electronic signals
either in the analog or digital fields (repeating or non-repeating signals).
________________ 5. It quantifies small amount of resistance in the electronic
components.
ACTIVITY 2
DIRECTIONS: Identify the following testing equipment used to detect the faults in
electronic components.
