1.4 Introduction of high precision GNSS receiver S680

Positioning principle

High-precision GNSS receiver S680 is integrated with high-precision GNSS motherboard, professional and
high sensitive satellite antenna, general bidirectional communication Bluetooth, high frequency power board,
high capacity of battery and intelligent control system. The highest Real-time positioning accuracy can achieve
the centimeter level (static and post-processing precision can reach the millimeter). In addition to high
positioning accuracy, the biggest advantage is the split type design, which can meet the needs of different
industries such as surveying and mapping, GIS and so on.

Fig.1.5-Appearance

Fig.1.6-Positioning principle

5
Let’s learn about the principle in brief:
Firstly, connect the PDA(such as mobile phone/tablet with Android/IOS system) with high precision GNSS
receiver S680 via Bluetooth, then the high precision antenna inside the receiver will receive GPS + GLONASS
+ BeiDou satellite signals, and transmit the satellite data to the main board; at the mean time, the PDA
controller acquires the differential data from the CORS stations using the built-in GPRS module or Wi-Fi, and
then send the differential data to the main board of the high-precision GNSS receiver via Bluetooth; then the
main board will figure out the high precise coordinates based on the satellite data and differential data, and send
the high precise coordinates back to PDA via built-in Bluetooth, which allows the software on the PDA
controller to call these high precise coordinates.

Features of GNSS receiver S680

 Split type design, avoid the electromagnetic interference from PDA to high precise GNSS main board,
which makes satellite search more stable and positioning accuracy more reliable;
 With the built-in Bluetooth4.0, communicating via Bluetooth makes the operation more flexible and in a
wider range of application. Moreover, the receiver is able to installed on a car with a magnet base, works as
an on-board device, so that we can control the PDA(mobile phone/tablet with Android/iOS system)
controller in the car(download/upload dat1), makes the surveying job more simple and comfortable,
maximum convenient way for users.
 Smaller design in 11.5cm×11.5cm×4.0cm dimension is very convenient to carry. For such a small device
can attach Real-time positioning in cm-level, is a revolutionary progress. This equipment will greatly
reduce the weight and volume of the carrying equipment to the field for personnel.
 In this compact box, equipped with a high capacity of battery, as a main power supply for itself, which
greatly save the power and make the unit work longer time, to ensure more than 10 hours continuous work.
 This unit supports to use multisystem and multi-platform mobile devices, fully compatible with Android,
IOS and Windows Mobile system controller, such as your mobile phone, tablet PC and so on, which
greatly reduces the difficulty of equipment operation, improve the flexibility of fieldwork. Make high-tech,
high-precision positioning instrument more civilian and simplification.
6
 Concentrate on the protective property, this high precise GNSS receiver is designed with Magnesium
aluminum alloy shell, up to IP67 industrial standard level, fully protect the device from dust and water,
survive a 2.5m pole drop, its ideal work in extremely tough conditions.
 This equipment is a portable product with beautiful appearance, perfect combination of fashionable design
and industrial aesthetics.

Chapter 2. Hardware Operation

2.1 Battery charging

High precise GNSS receiver S680 adoptbuilt-in6800mAh large capacity battery, typically it can work10 hours.
Equipped with a specified charging socket and charger, ensure the safety of the equipment during charging, it
also can be charged when connect with a computer via a USB cable.
Before use, recharge the equipment first. Please take in mind that make sure the charging time reach 8 to 10
hours at the first several times, and fully discharged, so that to maximize the battery capacity and extend the
battery life at the same time.

7
Fig.2.1-Charging

2.2 Power ON/OFF

Power on the receiver by holding on POWER key about 3seconds, the POWER light would light up. To Power
OFF, hold on power key for several seconds until all indicators are off, then the receiver will switch off.

Fig.2.2-Power indicator

2.3 Bluetooth connection

Successfully pair the receiver with controller (mobile phone or tablet) via Bluetooth, the indicator (second one)
would light up, then you can configure the parameters on software.

8
Fig.2.3-Bluetooth indicator

2.4 Satellite signals

If the satellite indicator flashes, it means the receiver has already begun searching the signal from satellite. The
flashing number of indicator represents the quantity of satellite the receiver searched, this status repeats after a
while.

Fig.2.4-Satellite signal indicator

2.5 Data communication

When the data transmission indicator is flashing, it indicates that the receiver has already connected to network
through the controller and is obtaining high precise corrections from CORS station. Combine high precise
corrections and satellite signals, the receiver will figure out high precise coordinates for your project.
