Let’s be ArtisTech!
A paper about ArtisTech Tales, a “BU Spaces” Virtual Conversation

Mr. Ezekiel Cas, an alumnus from Baliuag University’s College of Environmental

Design and Engineering, taught the aspiring engineers in the session about the basic
concepts in drafting. In the photo, he is explaining the stages of plan drafting using
technology (e.g. computer). He also explained the use of AutoCAD, which is an
application widely used by engineering students for their two-dimensional drafts,
along with other applications like SketchUp for three-dimensional modeling of the
drafting and VRay for 3D rendering of the model.

Yesterday, February 19, Baliuag University launched a series of webinars or

virtual conversations called BU Spaces. The program is part of the celebration of the
University’s foundation week and one of the activities of the University for the
students. In these so-called spaces, several speakers discussed certain topics like
technology, business, leadership, job opportunities, and mental health. Senior High
School students are the target audience of the program as it also features the
experiences of BU alumni and the programs they could choose from that the
University offers.

The University hosted three sessions, namely Think Talk, ArtisTech Tales,
and BUsiness and Leaders’ Minds. Each space is hosted by BU students and each
departments are also present during the meeting.

The one we had attended is the second session, ArtisTech Tales. In this
webinar, we are taught about the fundamental skills and the basics concepts of
animation, game designing, and computer-aided drafting and design. The alumni from
our University’s CITE and CEDE who served as the speakers for the session
effectively and engagingly discussed the topics and even provide examples so that the
students present can already visualize the things they would experience in the field or
program they would choose to enrol or study. Along with us are Senior High School
students taking up STEM as they are more inclined to these kinds of topics—
technology and engineering.

Another highlight of the session is the introduction of the newest programs

offered by the University in partnership with Lithan Singapore. Focusing more on
Digital Business Analytics and Software Development, the University’s partnership
with the Singaporean academic institution guarantees the student’s enrollment-to-
employment. The partnership offers apprenticeship for the student as early as second-
year in college. This said apprenticeship provides the student the relevant experience
in their chosen field and grants the student allowance as huge as Php 800,000,
enough for the student to provide for their own school expenses like tuition and
miscellaneous fees. The said partnership will not only enable the students to earn
money as early as possible but also help the student get the relevant experience and
knowledge from the experts and reliable mentors of their chosen program. The
programs offered by this partnership will surely enable the students apply what they
have learned since they can already use their learning in their apprenticeship.

Overall, the session was a great eye-opener for all the students. The speakers
gave their best to explain all the concepts and even provide their own works for the
students to know what are the things they could do soon if they would enrol to the
same programs these speakers finished. The introduction of the partnership of
University with Lithan Singapore also extended the limitless choices of the students
on what they should take for college. The programs under the partnership will surely
provide income and experience to the student which could be helpful for them in the
future.

I must say, we had gone a long way with technology. Now, with these
different advancements we have, it only takes a short amount of time to fulfill our
duties and to achieve the success we are all dreaming of. Together, let us all be
ArtisTech!
