Background

Resources Need
Three instances of, MLG, main landing gear wheel loss were
reported. The wheel losses were due to worn axle threads or
TOP KIT, NOSE GEAR $1,145.00
the installation of a wrong size wheel retainer nut on an axle INNER CYLINDER AXLE THREAD REWORK
with undersized axle threads. Axle threads that are
overhauled due to corrosion or wear beyond specified limits TOP KIT, MAIN GEAR $2,520.00
result in undersized axle threads. Due to the undersize of the INNER CYLINDER AXLE THREAD REWORK
axle threads and the use of the original wheel retainer nut,
the nut can migrate off the axle without rotation relative to TOTAL FOR EACH AIRPLANE 70,5
Manhours and TAT 42,8 Hours
the axle. To prevent migration and loss of the wheel retainer
nut, undersize the threads 1/16 inch and install a new close Tools & equipment General per
tolerance nut in accordance with this service bulletin. AMM/SRM/SWPM
