I. LEARNING GOALS

The learners demonstrate an understanding of:

1. how the different structures of the circulatory and

Content Standard respiratory systems work together to transport oxygen-rich
blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body;
2. the prevention, detection and treatment of diseases affecting
circulatory and respiratory systems
The learners should be able to:

Performance Standard 1. conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of

taking care of the respiratory and circulatory system based on data
gathered from the school or local health workers

Explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to

Most Essential Learning
transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to and from the
Competency
different parts of the body.

After the sessions, the students can …

1. Describe the function of each part of the human respiratory
system
2. Explain how the lungs work
Learning Objectives
3. Describe how the movement of the diaphragm helps the air go
in and out of the lungs
4. Identify the different types of circulation and how they work
together with the respiratory system to transport nutrients,
gases, and other molecules to and from different body parts.

III. PROCEDURE

1. Greetings

2. Settling down
Ask students to prepare the things needed for class, pick up pieces of
trash nearby (if there are any) and arrange their chairs.
PRELIMINARIES 3. Opening Prayer

4. Checking of Attendance

5. Objectives

6. Pre-test (15-item Multiple Choice Quiz)

1. Facilitator will ask the following question to students and elicit ideas on
their past experiences and prior knowledge about the circulatory system
ELICIT a. What was their experience during the COVID-19 pandemic?
b. What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
2. Facilitator corrects misconceptions from students using the sandwich
technique in feedbacking

1. Facilitator will ask this question to students: One of the symptoms of
COVID-19 is difficulty in breathing (or shortness of breath). What do
you think are the implications when an organism has trouble
breathing?

SHORT BREATHING EXERCISE

1. Facilitator will ask the students to close their eyes.

EXPLORE 2. Facilitator will guide students to inhale and exhale.
3. Students will take note of how their body reacts as they inhale or exhale.
4. Students will identify the parts of the respiratory system.
5. Students will discuss what may happen if a person fails to breathe in
oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide?
6. Students will explain overall function of the respiratory system.

EXPLAIN
1. Facilitator will show an unlabeled part of the respiratory system.
2. Let students label the parts of the respiratory system. Ask volunteers to
identify a body part.

3. Facilitator will ask students to facilitate the class in changing the mismatch
of name of its parts (if there are any)

4. Facilitator will ask students to identify the order on how gas moves in and
out of our body.
5. As we go along in the order of how gases move, facilitator will discuss the
function of each part in the respiratory system.

Now that you have already learned about the how gas is exchanged in our body.

ELABORATE a) Students will discuss how are Oxygen and other nutrients are cycled
into the body and how are wastes transported out of our system.
b) Students will also identify the organs involved in the circulatory
system.

EVALUATE
Post-test or assessment test will be given to students.

MULTIPLE CHOICE. Read each questions carefully and shade the ans
