AFFIXES
I. RATIONALE
Students benefit from instruction in root words and affixes as part of their
vocabulary instruction. As they learn these word parts, it helps them to analyze
specific unknown words they encounter, and it helps them to determine the
meaning of these words.
Affixes will help the students construct words from its etymologies. Students will
also enhance their vocabularic understanding about affixes as they blend it to the
root words they use. In the same way, affixes will widen the knowledge of
students, especially in constructing sentences.
