TASK NO. 7

Characterizing the Respondents and

the Sampling Procedure

Considering the respondents of your proposed study, mark the boxes if the following
information were considered:

☐the sampling criteria

☒the intention on why do sampling and not take the entire population (or vice versa)
☒the population involved as sources of data (why them?)
☐the people intently excluded in the population (why not them?)

Make 2-3 paragraphs to describe the respondents of your proposed study. Use citations in
presenting technical information.

The population of the study will be all of the senior high school students who have taken
General Mathematics in Modular distance learning in Tupsan National High School. They are
the incoming Grade 12 students for the School Year 2022 – 2023 considering that they have
taken the General mathematics subjects in their Grade 11 in School Year 2021 - 2022.
The study will make use of stratified random sampling based on the strata, the strand by
which the respondents is enrolled: GAS, STEM, and HUMSS.

Mark the box(es) of the following procedures that would describe how you will identify your
respondents:

☐Probabilistic Sampling Technique

☒Simple Random Sampling
☒Stratified Random Sampling
☐Systematic Sampling
☐Cluster Sampling

☐Non-Probabilistic Sampling Technique

☐Purposive Sampling

☐Convenience Sampling
☐Quota Sampling
☐Snowball Sampling

Make 2-3 paragraphs to describe your sampling procedure. Use citations in presenting
technical information.

The samples of the study will be determined using the Slovin’s formula. After the number of
samples is identified, the researcher will make use of stratified random sampling based on the
strata, the strand by which the respondents is enrolled: GAS, STEM, and HUMSS to get a
proportionate samples by strand using the computation ((sample size/population size) x stratum
size).

After the process of identifying the number of samples by strata, the simple random sampling will be
used to identify the samples on each strata.

In the space below, insert a table to show the population (N) and sample group (n) and
include its corresponding title, all in APA format.
