A whole note is a 4 count rhythm. It sounds the same as four quarter notes tied together. The whole note has a
hollow notehead and no stem. It is also the only rhythm in a four count measure. 9

A dotted half note is a three count rhythm. It sounds the same as three quarter notes tied together or
a half note and quarter note tied together.
It can be described as a half note with a dot after the note head.
There is also a stem which goes either upwards or downwards.

A key signature is where the flats (  ) and sharps (  ) are shown to make reading
22 Key Signatures
music easier and faster. There is anywhere between zero to seven sharps or flats in a key signature.
The key signature is displayed between the clef sign and the time signature.

Flats always show up in this order: B E A D G C F ( Been Eating All Day. Getting Chubby Fast.)
Sharps always show up in this order: F C G D A E B ( Fuzzy Cats Get Dirty After Every Bath.)
