the researchers have perused to sheld the light on the topic under the
study.
Motorcycle means a vehicle having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider
and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the
ground; the term does not include a tractor (State V. Benolken, 1992). It
appears that the dissimilarities between a motorcycle and a motor scooter
as shown by the evidence are merely distinctions without a difference, and
in no way affect the fundamental character or classification of a motor
scooter as a motorcycle. A motorcycle is nothing more than a cycle
propelled by motor power, rather than by man power. A motorcycle is
defined as a bicycle having a motor attached so as to be self-propelled
(Standifer v. Inter-ocean Ins. Co, 1953). Motorcycling requires a fine sense
of balance and a heightened sense of awareness and position amidst other
roadway users. A motorcycle responds more quickly to rider inputs than a
car, but is also more sensitive to outside forces, like irregular road surfaces
or crosswinds. A motorcycle is also less visible than a car due to its
narrower profile, and offers far less protection by exposing its rider to other
traffic and the elements. All these risks can be managed through study,
training, and practice. (Tim Buche, n.d.)
This theory served its purpose admirably. I liked riding motorcycles, and
needed a reason to believe I wasn’t putting myself or my family in harm’s
way. At the same time, I wanted to be realistic, which required some
acknowledgement of danger.
Another study conducted by Hsuet al. (2003) stresses that: motorcycles
are relatively small in size, giving maneuvering flexibility and the freedom to
park practically anywhere; motorcycles have the agility and the capability to
weave through queues in congested areas; the weight of a motorcycle is
relatively light and able to be moved by driver; the price of motorcycle is
low and affordable by many people in developing or in the low-income
economies. Motorcycle users also claimed that they do not have enough
proper precautionary measures before riding motorcycle they just only wear
helmet and other safety gears. Do not have a proper training on driving a
motorcycle. And also the sources of their knowledge or skills in driving are
mostly from: observing others and actual experiencing.
