Step Action on Screen Narration

1 Title screen Hi everyone! In this video, we will be looking at the basics

of Classlink and getting it started. You may also use this
as a refresher in case you have forgotten how to use any of
its features. I’ll be showing you how to login, the basics of
the My Apps dashboard and how to organize it, how to
add apps using the App library, and how to personalize
your dashboard and settings.

2 Slide with bullet points that Let’s start with a brief introduction of What is Classlink?
come in as its talked about It is an application in which teachers and students can
access all of their digital resources and tools in one place
and you only have to sign in once, hence single sign-on. It
simplifies logging in to all of the different web tools we
use daily. Each person has their own Classlink account,
but students do not have access to all the features that
teachers have.

3 Show clipart of different Ok, so how do we get on to Classlink? You can use just
devices about any device… a chromebook, a computer, an iPad, or
mobile device.

4 Desktop with Google If using a computer or a chromebook, use google chrome

Chrome icon as your web browser and go to our school specific link,
(if possible iPad screen launchpad.classlink.com/smcs.
with app store log and/or If using an iPad, tablet, or mobile device you have to
google play store logo) install the Classlink app from the app store first and find
our school.

5 School Classlink This is what our school login page will look like. Click on
homepage and sign in Sign in with Google and use your school credentials to
sign in.

6 My Apps dashboard Once signed in, your My Apps dashboard will launch.
opening This is your homepage where all of your digital resources
and tools will be kept. These could be added by your
school admin or by you, which we’ll get to that in a bit.
7 Click on app with key and You will notice that some of the apps have a key on the
demonstrate top right corner and some do not. If there is a key on the
Click on app with no key app, then that means there is a password associated with
and demonstrate that app. When you click on it, it will automatically log
you in using your saved credentials. Notice how it says
“making magic happen”, that is the single sign-on part. If
it is your first time logging in to that app, then you will be
prompted to enter your credentials and it will be saved in a
password locker. If there is no key, then that means no
password is needed and when you click on the app, it will
take you to that website. For example, this app is the Tech
Support Form and you use it whenever you have an issue
or need help with technology. When you open it, it is a
google form you fill out, no password needed.

8 Show install Classlink Just a side note…you may be prompted to add the
extension screenshots Classlink extension when you are first getting started or
when you open Classlink on a new device. Simply follow
the prompts to add the extension and return to your My
Apps dashboard when done.

9 Demonstrate right-click on Right-clicking on an app brings up additional menu

app & edit password options for that app. If you need to update or change a
password, for example, click on Edit password, then the
edit tool and type in your new credentials and click Save.

10 Demonstrate right-click on Another helpful tool in the menu options when you right
app & auto launch click on an app, is the Auto Launch feature. It allows up to
5 apps to automatically open in new tabs when you sign in
to Classlink. For example, I have my RenWeb and email
open when I sign in first thing every morning.

11 Demonstrate moving apps Also, you may want to organize your apps in a way that
on My Apps dashboard, makes sense to you. You can move apps around by
creating folders for apps, clicking and dragging them where you want. You can even
and deleting apps from group apps in a folder by clicking and dragging an app on
folders top of one another, similar to what you would do on your
phone. If you would rather create a folder first, then you
can right click anywhere on your My Apps dashboard and
choose Add Folder. Give it a title and choose a color. Add
apps to the folder by dragging and dropping them on top
of the folder. You can remove an app from a folder by
right clicking on it and choosing remove app from folder.
It will then be placed back on the main dashboard.

12 Demonstrate App Library Ok, so that’s the basics of how the apps work and how you
and adding an app can organize them to your likings. Now, let’s look at how
you can add more apps. Like I said before, some apps are
pushed out by our school admin and are rostered using our
information in RenWeb. This is helpful for school-wide
apps like BrainPop and IXL. However, there may be other
apps you would like on your dashboard that only you may
use. You can add those by using the App library. Click on
the plus here on the top left part of your screen. You can
search all apps or by the school or by department library.
Let’s say, for example, I want to add Canva to my
dashboard. I would search here in the box (type Canva);
notice how there are several choices, one with a key and
one without. I want the one with a key so that I can save
my login credentials and easily sign in. Click on add, go
back to my dashboard. When you launch it, it will ask for
credentials since it is the first time I’m opening the app.
Type it in and click save. Now it’s there and will make
magic happen whenever I log in to Canva.

13 Demonstrate adding an app There are over 6,000 apps that you can add. However, you
that is not in app library may come across one that is not yet available. In this case,
you can click on Add App here at the top right and fill in
the information- type in a title for the app and copy and
paste the URL for the website. If you want it to be an app
that will remember your password, click on Request single
sign-on and Classlink will create that for you.
Students do not have access to the App library. All of their
apps are added by the school admin or by their teacher.

14 Demonstrate edit mode Ok, let’s go back to our My Apps dashboard and look at a
couple more things. This button here is Edit mode. Here
you can change your theme which changes the look of
your dashboard; change your app size and font style; and
even customize your background. Students have access to
edit mode, just not to customize their backgrounds.

15 Demonstrate notifications This is notifications. Any new notifications will

automatically pop up when you sign in and if you click
here it will show any recent notifications.

16 Demonstrate settings Moving over to the right side of the screen, by clicking
here on your profile image, you can open your settings.
Here you can personalize your profile image, have another
way to change your theme or wallpaper, edit passwords,
set up auto launch apps, and review and set up sign in and
security features.
Students are able to change and select a profile image
from the given pictures, which they enjoy doing!

17 My Apps dashboard, Alright, that is the basics of Classlink. I know it may seem
highlight Tech Support like a lot at first but it gets better the more you use it and
form app find what works for you. Don’t forget that if you run into
any issues or need help with adding any apps, do not
hesitate to use the Tech Support form app right here.
