REVIVAL THROUGH RETREAT

1st Kings 19:4-8

Retreat is not about giving up on life, on your purpose, vision or

even on God. Rather, retreat is to reinvent ourselves and reconnect
with our soul. We all desire, need, and deserve reconnection time.
To retreat is to reconnect with ourselves, through reconnecting with
God, by so doing, we will have better stand in our relationship with
God. The main purpose of this retreat therefore is to reconnect with
the Holy Spirit and have spiritual awakening or revival.

When John the Baptist was beheaded and his disciples went to
Jesus and told him everything, His instruction was simple: Mark
6:31 says; And he said unto them, come ye yourselves apart, into a
desert place, and rest a while.

When it seems we have become weak to fight our battles ourselves,

we have been distressed by life’s ups and downs, what we need is to
build our faith in God’s presence and He will give us His strength.

To retreat means to seek God; to find deeper ways of fellowshipping

with God; to find newer ways of renewing our relationship with God.
In Jeremiah 29:13-14 God said if we seek Him with all our heart,
we will find Him (Let’s read it)

What we are doing here is very deep and spiritual. All human
beings have an intense desire to connect to God and one vital
element that is required to connect to God is a nice quiet
atmosphere, free of daily concerns, where we can meditate over
spiritual truths. That is why this retreat is important.

In our bible reading, we understood Elijah went on a journey to the

mountain for forty days and forty nights in preparation for his
battle against the prophets of Baal. In fact Elijah and later Elisha
frequently returned to Mount Carmel whenever there is need for
them to seek and commune with God.

Esther was another woman who understood the important of a

spiritual retreat. (Esther 4:16) – Tell the story…

Jesus was a perfect example in having revival through retreat.
Before He began His earthly ministry, He went into the wilderness
for forty days and forty nights, fasting, praying and fellowshipping
with God. And when He returned He was able to resist the
temptations of Satan.

Luke 5:15-16 says: But the news about Him was spreading even
farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be
healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus Himself would often slip away
to the wilderness and pray.

Luke 6:12, Mark 1:35, Mark 6:45-46

The overall purpose of a spiritual retreat is to be transformed in

whatever manner God chooses. Withdrawing to a place of spiritual
retreat offers a time for refreshment and nourishment of life, a time
to experience a continual sense of God’s presence that could
become a constant reality in everyday life.

As we embark upon this retreat with our hearts open to God and or
minds set on His spiritual renewal, I pray that all that have been
lost to us will be restored in Jesus name.
