The video shows about the Philippine Literature which there are various of things
happened in our country and lot of colonization happened which influenced the mind, heart, soul
and values of the filipinos. The Philippines has a rich cultural heritage which preserved and
developed through time and pass on through generations to generation. The literature of the
Philippines is a rich and diverse body of writing that has developed along with the history of the
nation and it flourished and developed over different times. It started to our very own folktales
which has different types of genres like about life, adventure, love, horror, and humor that gives a
lesson to children or to the listeners and readers. It is no secret that many Filipinos are
unfamiliar with a significant portion of their nation's literary past, particularly works that were
published long before the arrival of the Spaniards. This is because legends from ancient times
were verbally transmitted from generation to generation rather than being recorded in writing.

During the spaniards colonization or laso known as Hispanization it brought several

changes particularly in the literature of the philippines and this was the reason why Christianity
was introduced in our country which shapes and mold us because spaniards claimed and
believed that our folktales was a work by the devil. Through this, most of the epics, legends, and
stories vanished or was altered. The religious prose and religious poetry was the second one
that were introduced to our country and the reason why they introduce this is to spread the
religion of the christianity. One of the example of the religious prose was the memorial de Lavida
which is, it is the guidelines for the christian life in the tagalog language. While the second one
which is the Prose poetry, Pasyon was an example to this and it is all about the passion, death,
and resurrection of christ. Filipinos grew familiar with literature as a result of the Spanish
influence in our country. But the literature that the Filipinos first encountered was written by
Spanish authors, not by Filipinos. After the colinization of the Spaniards, Japan colonized
philippines in the 19th century. During this period, many wrote plays, poem, short stories, etc.
topics and theme are focused about life in the provinces. In the Philippines in the nineteenth
century, change was once more in the air. Illustrados, or Filipino intellectuals educated in
Europe, started to write on the negative effects of colonization. As a result of this and the
simmering calls for reform from the populace, writers like Jose Rizal and Marcelo H. del Pilar,
Emilio Jacinto, Mariano Ponce, and Andres Bonifacio.

The flowering of Philippine literature in its different languages has continued with fresh
publications appearing following the Martial Law era and the revival of serious literature in the
1960s and 1970s. Filipino authors continue to produce poems, short stories, novellas, novels,
and essays, regardless of whether their work is socially engaged, relates to gender or ethnicity,
or is purely personal. I have realized on this video that if only when we allow literature to have a
positive impact on our lives will it be able to assist us in achieving success in the real world. It is
significant because it encourages us to read critically, write persuasively, and link to both
personal and historical events. It’s a truth universally acknowledged that once we study
literature, we will never escape its effect however it may differ from one reader to another. In
short, literature has an impact on us and helps us understand people from all walks of life.
Particularly in narratives, people are moved to feel empathy and gain fresh insights into their
own and other people's lives.
