Subject : SUPREME STUDENT GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS FOR SCHOOL


YEAR 2022-2023

Date : JUNE 10, 2022

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) Elections for S.Y. 2022-2023


shall be held on June 24, 2022. The purpose of this election is to elect the
next student leaders who will take charge once the incumbent officers and
representatives step down from their offices. All positions, except for the
incoming Grade 7 and 11 Representative, are open for candidacy. The
following schedule of activities shall be observed in preparation for the
elections:

Enclosed below are the guidelines for the SSG Elections for S.Y. 2022-
2023.

SSG ELECTIONS GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2022-2023
I. Announcement of Elections

a. Coordination of SPG/SSG Comelec with Class Advisers

The SSG COMELEC shall announce the conduct of elections and schedule of activities
amongst Class Advisers, informing that each elected president of the class will be the
representatives of this school year’s SSG elections.

b. Announcement of SSG Elections Amongst Class Presidents

The Class Adviser shall send election notice and schedule of activities to the Class President
through the online platform/s that will be utilized by the COMELEC in the conduct of SSG
elections this school year.

c. Distribution of Certificate of Candidacy (COC)

Together with the election notice, the Class Adviser shall also send and include the Certificate
of Candidacy (COC) which will be completed and accomplished by the candidates (learners
who signify interest to run).

II. Filing and Evaluation of COC

a. Submission of COC

The candidate shall submit the accomplished and completed COC to the SSG Comelec.

b. Evaluation of COC

Upon submission, the COMELEC shall evaluate the accomplished COC of each candidate
and shall decide on the approval or disapproval of his or her application.
III. Election Proper

The created online form of the COMELEC will serve as the election’s official ballot per class.
The class presidents shall carefully follow the instructions in the online official ballot and cast
their votes, representing their class’s decision.

IV. Proclamation of Winners

a. Validation of Official Results

The COMELEC shall validate the official results and come up with an official list of school’s
newly – elected SPG/SSG officers of the school year, signed and proclaimed by the
COMELEC Adviser and approved by the School Head.

b. Announcement of Newly Elected Officers

The results of the elections shall be disseminated and forwarded to the Class Presidents and
to all learners by the Class Adviser through virtually.

V. Consolidation of Election Documents

The COMELEC shall collate all the accomplished Oath Taking Forms and other relevant
documents related to the recently concluded SPG/SSG elections.
SSG Election Procedures
For this school year, the presidents of each class will be the representatives for the conduct of SSG
Elections. Below are the specific procedures that would serve as a guide for the entire duration of the
elections. The SSG Elections will be conducted via a Virtual/Online Platform with the SSG COMELEC
facilitating the election process.
PART I
Composition, Election, Qualifications and Term of Office of the SSG
Article VIII (Composition, Election, Qualifications and Term of Office of the SSG) of the Constitution
and By-Laws of The Supreme Student Government Of Negros Occidental National Science High
School will be applied in the conduct of SSG elections this school year.
Section 1 The officers of the SSG are the duly elected President, Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relations Officer, and the Grade Level Representatives.

Section 2 All SSG elections shall be conducted school-wide annually.

Section 3 The campaign procedures and elections shall be in accordance with the SSG COMELEC
Standard Election Code.

Section 4 Candidates for all the SSG elective positions shall:

4.1. Be bona fide students;

4.2. Be of good academic standing with a general average of 85 and above without any failing
grade from the 1st to the current grading quarter of the current school year;

4.3. Be of good moral character;

4.4. Have not been subjected to any disciplinary sanction;

4.5. Have submitted the SSG Election Application Packet to be approved by a representative
of the SSG Commission on Elections;
SSG Grade Level Qualifications
POSITION GRADE LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS
a. President Incoming Grade 10, 11, and 12
b. Vice President Incoming Grade 10, 11, and 12
c. Secretary Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
d. Treasurer Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
e. Auditor Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
f. Public Relations Officer Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
g. Business Manager Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
h. Grade Level Representatives Incoming Grade 8, 9, 10 and 12

Section 5 Once elected, all SSG Officers, except the Grade Level Representatives shall be
considered resigned and ineligible from all major elective or appointive positions in other
clubs and organizations. Major elective or appointive positions shall refer to the positions
of President, or equivalent positions, including Editor-in-Chief, of the School Paper or
Publication.

Section 6 No residency shall be required of the candidates for all the SSG elective positions.

Section 7 The officers of the SSG shall hold office for one (1) school year.

PART II
ELECTION PROCEDURES
1. After the announcement of the Final List of Official Candidates and Distribution of Election
Paraphernalia, class presidents are advised to meet with the students of their section before
the Election date to decide on which candidate to cast their votes for.
2. The schedule and time will be set by the COMELEC for the casting of votes. A link will be sent
before the start of the elections.
3. Provide the necessary information in the online official ballot.
4. Read the instructions carefully and choose your desired candidate/s per position.
5. Make a screenshot once you have submitted your response.
6. Wait for the results.
