1. Can you say that science and technology always bring good to society?
If yes, justify. If not, cite instances where science and technology bring
harm to society.

Answer:

Yes I can say that Science and technology are intimately connected to
modernity and are bringing good for the rapid development of our society.
Modernization in all aspects of life is the most visible manifestation of the
application of science and technology in every nation. Life has become simpler
with the introduction of modern gadgets in all walks of life, and this is only
possible due to the integration of science and technology.

Technology has an impact on how people communicate, learn, and think. It


benefits society and influences how people interact with one another on a daily
basis. It has made learning more interactive and collaborative, allowing people to
better engage with the material they are learning and struggling with.

Science contributes to a longer and healthier life by monitoring our health,


providing medicine to cure our diseases, alleviating aches and pains, assisting us
in providing water for our basic needs – including our food, providing energy, and
making life more enjoyable by including sports, music, entertainment, and the
latest.

2. Discuss how the growth and development of science and technology in the
Philippines.

Answer:

During the Spaniards colonization in the Philippines it is also the start of


the development of science and technology here in our country, since they
established schools, hospitals, and began scientific research, which had a
significant impact on the rise of the country’s professions. They established
scientific institutions and formalized education. Parish schools were established,
where religion, reading, writing, arithmetic, and music were taught. Natives were
taught more advanced agricultural techniques. Later, they established colleges
and universities throughout the country, including the University of Santo Tomas,
Asia’s oldest university.

Prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, Filipinos were already engaged in


scientific activities and practices, resulting in primitive or first wave technology.
They were medicinal properties of some plants on how to extract medicine from
herbs. They had an alphabet, a writing system, a method of counting, weights,
and measures.

3. How will you use science and technology to solve the pandemic crisis in the
society?

Answer:

Using science and technology in solving the pandemic crisis in the society
can be only be done if there is a great support by the government but even so
there’s no support from them I can still manage to help solving some of the
societal issues in the midst of pandemic, in small ways through science where
supporting our researchers in their new scientific innovation for inventing new
vaccines to provide protection to the health of the whole humanity.

Technology will be also used in solving pandemic societal crisis in a way


that bringing informative contents and sharing optimistic messages to each and
everyone who are greatly affected by the mental health problems brought by the
continuous and long lockdowns.
