Art of Declaration of Philippine Independence

1. What does the document want to convey?


It conveys the message about the Proclamation of Philippine Independence in Kawit Cavite on
June 12, 1898. It states there that we Filipinos are free under Spain Crown. Moreover, it is about
conferring upon the famous Dictator Don Emilio Aguinaldo all the powers necessary to enable
him to discharge the duties of Government, including the prerogatives of granting pardon and
amnesty. And lastly, it aslo discussed the meaning of the symbols of the Philippine flag.
2. How did the revolutionaries regard Aguinaldo based on the document?
They recognized Don Emilio Aguinaldo as an instrument chosenby God to become the
Supreme Head of the nation. In myunderstanding, at that time, Don Emilio Aguinaldo is
one of their hope,as they regarded him as someone who will effectuate the redemptionof our
unfortunate country
3. According to the document, what do the symbols in the Philippine flag represent?
The Philippine flag is one of the symbols of our freedom andindependence.
Importantly, it is a symbol that we are a nation as weused the same flag all over the country.
The meanings of the elementspresent in the flag are the following:
1. The white triangle signifies the famous Society of the"Katipunan," which employs its
blood compact and inspiresthe masses to rise in revolution;
2. The three stars symbolize the three principal Islands of theseArchipelago - Luzon,
Mindanao, and Panay, where therevolutionary movement started;
3. The sun represents the gigantic step made by the country'sson towards the path of Progress
and Civilization;
4. The eight rays signify the eight provinces - Manila, Cavite,Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva
Ecija, Bataan, Laguna, andBatangas - which declares themselves in a state of war
assoon as the first revolt was initiated, and
5. The colors of Blue, Red, and White, commemorating theUnited States of America's flag,
as a manifestation of ourprofound gratitude towards this Great Nation for
itsdisinterested protection that it lent us and continues lendingus
4. How did the Filipinos regard the United States according to the document?
If we look at this text, the Filipino people look at the American people with full gratitude for
gaining Freedom from the Spanish government by displaying the colour of the Philippine flag on
the American flag.
5. What is the importance of this document in the history of our country?
It is a really important document indeed for it reminds us Filipinos of the day we have set free
from Spaniards colonization. It reminds us the word freedom that we seek from a very long
time. Many of us Filipinos offered their lives just to fight for our beloved land. It is such a long
story but in the end, we are free. Free from slavery and blasphemy of other country.
