RSVP for RENEDEZVOUS by July 23


President Lynn Holmes called the general meeting of the Whidbey Cruzers to order at approximately 7:00pm held at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge on July 5, 2011. There were 51 in attendance. Previous minutes were approved as written. New Cars There two new cars mentioned, Gary Nienhuis and Grace Hsu have a 66 Mustang Coupe and someone also mentioned they have a 41 Chevy 2dr coupe. Car Fines I hope everyone is being honest or truthful about which car they drove or didnt drive! PAY THE FINE, its only a BUCK! Membership Duane Dillard Duane Dillard one new member which is Grace Hsu, that makes our total paid membership 171. If you need to make changes to the info in the roster call Duane at 360-675-6866. Cruise Committee Mel Rogers Mel reported that there was one cruise on the agenda and that is:

Bobs Burgers and Brew, July 14 Its a dinner cruise that will take us through the farmlands on Old Hwy 99 North Road and Cook Rd, Burlington. We will see our cars parked just outside our private banquet room. Leave Flowers Marine at 5:00pm. Check out the menu on their website www.bobsburgersandbrew.com. Need to know if youre coming so RSVP by July 13. 360-678-7727. Social Committee Deanna Rogers Whidbey Cruzers Rendezvous, Saturday, July 30, 12 Noon. MARK THIS DATE. Bring your Cruzer car!! It will take place at Jaegers Shop at 155 Case Rd. A WESTERN THEME! So dress appropriately. Catered by Roger and Georgette Anglum who will provide a BBQ Chicken Sandwich, smoked pulled pork sandwich, BBQ beans, chips, and coleslaw, served with Get down Willie BBQ sauce. This year we need an accurate head count plus money one week prior to the event. Jim Rairigh will be accepting reservations and money. Each paid member gets their meal free and non-members cost is $9. Bring your kids this year and if under 10 they will get free hotdogs and chips. There is going to be a water balloon contest for all ages and a slow drag contest with a $100 prize, and maybe more. Contact Deanna if you have an event at 360-678-7727. Car Show Committee Ted Mann Navy Centennial Celebration Car Show, July 30, 8am. - Contact Richard Mack at 360-240-0843 for details about time and place. Those wishing to attend this event should have time to go to our Rendezvous also if you can find out how to leave the Centennial in an orderly manner. There will be lots of aircraft, demos, etc. on display for your enjoyment. Anacortes Waterfront Festival, Car Show Display, August 27, 1pm 8pm. Lots of activities such as a Restaurant Clam Chowder contest, boat tours, and more at the end of Commercial Ave. Careage of Whidbey Car Show, Wednesday, August 10, 11:00 to 3pm. Show your car, enjoy a very nice lunch and make some older folks pretty happy. There will be Horseshoes, raffles, and prizes. As of July 8th, 9 people signed up to show their cars. Open Car Show, Hosts Pioneer Automotive and the Whidbey Cruzers, downtown on Pioneer Way (old Chevrolet dealer), July 23, 10am to 3pm. Motorcycles are welcome, entre fee is $10 or 10 lbs. of food. All donations will go to our Food Bank the HELP HOUSE. Lots of food, prizes, and vendors will be on hand. Prez Lynn is asking for volunteers to help out, contact Lynn at 360-240-8924. Sunshine Committee Brenda Ackley A get well card was sent to Mike Harris for his gall stone discomfort and pain at the end of his Chelan Trip. He will have an upcoming surgery and will keep us posted. A sunshine card was sent to Joline DeVos to wish her a happy face for her daily

trials and caretaking, many good thoughts are being sent her way, our love to Brice. Fred Bronson was sent a get well card for health issues, he had gall bladder surgery and is doing amazingly well, his recovery has been speedy and looks as good as new. Tonight he was at the meeting and at a BBQ over the weekend, way to go Fred! Jerry Rolfe was sent a get well card for his fall in the barn, thought it was a hurt elbow, turned out to be a broken one, wishing you a speedy recovery for a painful accident! Katherine Christmas was sent a get well card, filled with many wishes and much love on her recent heart attack, and health complications, and is recovering at home now from the hospital, with an upcoming surgery planned. Rollin Whited was at the meeting, looking great and feeling good, after his open heart surgery for a valve replacement at Saint Josephs in Bellingham at the end of May! So good to see you Rollin, an inspiration to us all! It will held at the Windjammer Park (City Beach), National Night Out. Bring a dessert potluck to share at 6:00pm and our general meeting at 7pm. You may bring your cars for display at 3pm. Enter the park down past the RV Park. There will be food vendors, demos, games, and other things to share. Remember to bring your chairs. 50/50 and Door Prize Drawings Bucket Dude and Dudette were Gary Nienhuis and Grace Hsu. Door prizes were few this month, but the 50/50 drawing was still a decent amount! This months 50/50 winner was Gail Jaeger, again, you lucky duck, Congratulations! Events Calendar At a Glance

do want to try the dog sled excursion next time. Saw lots of animals, including a Grizzly. Played with a female Malamute dog, she was big and friendly! I also spent time at the Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh! CRUZN WITH THE PREZ We are finally getting some summer weather. Its about time! We have had some nice club get-togethers. Id like to thank Rudy and Colleen Parhaniemi for their fire pit celebration, and Dan and Ruth Terrill for their clam fry. All your hard work and hospitality was much appreciated. We had good turnouts to El Cazador Restaurant and the San Juan Lanes Bar and Grill. Our next cruise and dinner to San Juan Lanes is August 5th. We will leave Flowers Marine at 4:30pm. Our car show will be July 23rd at Pioneer Automotive. Bring your car or cars plus $10 or 10 pounds of food. Proceeds go to the Oak Harbor Help House. There will be raffles and vendors with food and various items. I hope you all had a nice 4th of July. This is our holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
