Long Range Planning Sept
Long Range Planning Sept
Classroom Demographics:
-My classroom will be filled with grade two students of various backgrounds. There will be students who have lived in the Picture Butte area all their lives, as
well as others who have only recently moved to Canada. Being immigrants from Mexico whose families have come to work at the nearby farms, not all
students are fluent in English. This will come with challenges for the learners both with ELL and social differences.
-St. Catherine is a Catholic School, that strives to encourage, support, and accept everyone as they work together towards reaching their personal potential
personally, academically, and spiritually. Being a Christ-centered community, students will have common ground based on their beliefs.
Accommodations:
-Since there is a large group of grade 2 students, for both math and language arts, students will be split between two teachers. This allows for smaller class
sizes to address both class and individual needs more.
-Because there will be students who struggle with the language, many activities have been planned to allow those students the ability to participate. Learning
through games and activities is just as beneficial and will hopefully allow conversations, which will also help the students from Mexico to learn some English.
