Bachelor of Science Electronics and Communication Engineering THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND
“Are successful entrepreneurs born or made?”
Entrepreneurs will not exist without the presence of the action of
entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship has been around since humans started bartering with one another, hence, it is an activity setting up a business or business in order to gain a profit, and everytime I hear the word “entrepreneur” I usually think about this as related to business. In fact, it really is related to business since entrepreneurs, as defined in oxford dictionary, is a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so. The first academic usage for this term had been used by an early economist who firstly described an entrepreneur as an adventurer. People are born unknowingly and unaware. By first assessing a person during its childhood days, you may identify a child’s knack upon something when you see him/her excel with potential, or when a child’s daily activities have been turned into a hobby as a child grows. By this, we are able to realize what potential skills and abilities a person may have or may develop as time passes by based on what we witness. People are already born with talents and skills, but as we grow we realize we can do more by enhancing ourselves, molding ourselves, pushing ourselves and becoming a greater version of ourselves. Therefore, I stand that entrepreneurs are made. The definition of success is different between people. By the question given, I’ve begun to ask myself a question from the question itself with; what is the basis to identify an entrepreneur as successful? With this I’ve come to realize that the definition of success in life may be taken in different aspects but with the industry of putting up a business, a successful entrepreneur is defined by not only the profit earned by the business but as well as its great contribution to the economy, people, and society. Thus, people who are built and molded to be moral and ethical are those entrepreneurs who do not only care for the money, but for the whole betterment totality, as an entrepreneur skills are not only what makes a person successful but its flowing attributes within a self as well. Hence, many may be skillful, talented, and capable, but only few are shaped with moral values. As stated previously, an individual is already born able to do something, but it takes learning, experience, knowledge and wisdom that is continuously needed for enhancement and development. Most likely with any other career or profession that people succeed with, being a successful entrepreneur is also a hardship. It also requires risk, patience, determination and the most important for an entrepreneur is the risk. After all, an entrepreneur would never be called a successful entrepreneur without putting its investments at risk. Therefore, I take my final stand as entrepreneurs are already born, but successful entrepreneurs are to be made.
