Let us all stand and make this morning wonderful with the presence
of the Lord to guide us with our lessons this day.
(Students will stand)

May I call on Ms.________ to lead the prayer.

(Okay sir)

Greetings
Good Morning Class and Peace be with you.
(Good Morning Sir and Peace be with you.)

How’s your day class?

(It’s a nice day sir.)

Please pick up any pieces of paper or candy wrappers under your

chair before taking a seat; if there are none, you may take a seat.
(Students will pick up candy wrappers)

B. Recall It appears that you have all regained consciousness. So, before we
go on to our next topic, let's go over everything we talked about at
our last meeting.
So, who among you remembers our previous topic?
(Students will raise their hands)

Yes Ms. __________

(Our last topic is about functions.)

Exactly. What do we mean about function?

(Function is a relation from a set of inputs to a set of possible
outputs where each input is related to exactly one output.)

Very good. Thank you.

It feels great that you remember our previous lesson.

C. Motivation I am going to present to the class the operation and composition of

function, I will group you into 4 and I will assign one problem to
every-group.

While doing the activity what did you notice?

Yes Ms. _____

(We have noticed that we are going to substitute the value of X).

Very well observation.

a. Activity In your same group you are going to do this activity wherein you
are going to analyze and write the notations base on your
understanding.

Are you ready?

(Yes sir.)

For group 1

For group 2

For group 3

For group 4

I will give you 5 minutes to try to analyze the notations.

Okay, your time is up. Group 1 will be the first one to present their
answers and then followed by group 2,3, and 4.

Group 1 representative, please present your answer.

(As we are doing the activity we have come to this answer where
we just distribute it.)

Okay. Thank you. Next group please.

(We come up with this answer, we just distribute it as well.)

Thank you. Next group please.

(As we are doing the activity and because of the properties that we
can still remember, we have done with this answer.)

RODOLFO

Okay last but not the least, group 4.

(We come up with this answer.)

Wow! Amazing my dear students. You all did a great job. I can see
that you already know how and what it seems to understand the
different notations in performing operations of function.

How about the composition of function?

Yes Mr. _________

Yes, very good.

b. Analysis Now, what did you notice in our activity?

Yes Mr. ____

(We have noticed that there are 4 fundamental operations that we
use to answer the different function and that the composition of a
function is an operation where two functions say f and g generate a
new function.)

Yes, great observation.

Let f and g be any two functions. You can add, subtract, multiply or
divide f(x) and g(x) to form a new function.

Let us try different functions and solve.

Who can answer?

Yes Ms. _________

(Student will answer)

Next one, who can do this?

(Student will answer)

Very well! Next one?

Last two! Who can answer this?

(Student will answer)

Next,

(Student will answer)

c. Abstraction

When we say composition of functions, is an operation where two

functions say f and g generate a new function say h in such a way
that h(x)=g(f(x)).

It means here function g is applied to the function of x. So

basically, a function is applied to the result of another function.

RODOLFO

We have the 4 operations in solving the functions. We have the

addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. And, the
composition of a function is an operation where two functions say f
and g generate a new function.

Here are the 4 operations:

Addition, (f+g)(x) where, the notation is f(x)+g(x) as composition

of function

Subtraction, (f-g)(x) where, the notation is f(x)-g(x) as composition

of function

Multiplication, (f◦g)(x) where the notation is f(x)g(x) as

composition of function

Division, (f/g)(x) where the notation is f(x)/g(x) as composition of

function

d. Application
Since you already understand our lesson, let us now proceed to our
final group work activity. All of you will be given different
functions to be solve and will discuss it. Your group must have
your spokesperson who will present and elaborate your solutions
and answer.

Are you guys ready?

(Yes sir.)

All of will answer same question.

(Students will answer)

E. Generalization: Since, you don’t have any question, I will ask some question. I will
randomly call your names using this list in my hands. You are
going to answer the same question.

Ms. _____________ what do you think is the use of our topic to our
daily lives?

(Student 1 will give her own answer regarding the question.)

Very precise answer!

Next, Mr. ___________ share your thoughts.

(Student 2 will answer by his own words)

Wonderful idea!

IV. EVALUATION IV.1 Final Activity

Since you now have full of knowledge, get your ball pen and
1whole sheet of pad paper and answer the problem below.

IV.2 Reflection

Understanding and learning functions can enable us to lengthen

our imagination and let us grow. Do you know that functions can
be so related to your life situation? Knowledge about functions are
your edges to answer and perform problem solving not only in
mathematics but in your life as well.

Take a look with the following questions and give your best
answer.

1. How can you relate your learning about our topic in terms
of your real-life situation in this time of pandemic?

2. Does the operation and composition of function useful?

Why? Why not?

VI. ASSIGNMENT For your assignment, you are going to create your own examples
for operation and composition of functions. Write it in a short bond
paper.
