General Guidelines for Mess

1. Below are the Mess timings to be strictly


followed: Breakfast: 8:00 - 9:30 AM
Lunch: 1:00 - 2:45 PM
Snacks: 5:00 - 6:15 PM
Dinner: 8:00 - 9:45 PM
(Above mentioned timings are tentative and may change according to college timings which will be
intimated timely).

2. Students are not permitted to take food to their rooms in mess utensils. Students should drop the utensils
(plates, spoons and glasses) in the designated area and shouldn't leave them lying around in the mess area
or any other place. Please be mindful of not throwing the spoons into dustbin while disposing the food
waste.

3. For Opt-in/ opt-out requests, a google sheet would be floated during the end of every month where
students have to select opt-in/out status & meal preference for the upcoming month. Meals preference
(Veg/Egg/Non Veg) details are required for estimating the count of food preparation.

4. For a particular meal, students can either eat veg items or non veg items, but not both at the same time.
When in the menu for a particular meal has both non-veg/Veg items, student can either have veg items or
non-veg items based on their preference for their particular meal.

5. Students are supposed to drink tea/coffee in the designated small glasses. The big glasses are for
water consumption only.

6. Students consuming mess food after opting out of mess services will be penalized and are subject to fine.

7. Mess payments should be cleared as per the deadline given by the committee. Failing to which will
attract a penalty of Rs.100 per day.

8. If any student opts out/discontinues mess services after paying for the concerned month, the amount for
the remaining days he/she did not avail of the services will not be refunded/adjusted unless informed before
the payment for the respective month. Exceptions will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

9. Students other than the Mess Committee Members are not permitted to enter the kitchen or store room of
the mess on any account. If any student is found entering the kitchen area, he/she will be liable for penalty.

10. After paying the fee for the month, if any student leaves the campus and does not avail the mess
services for greater than or equal to three days, the money for those days would be readjusted in the
coming months only when it is informed in advance. Cases with less than three days will not be
considered. Exceptions will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

Anyone failing to abide by the guidelines mentioned above will attract a penalty as given below per instance:

Note:
1. All students are strictly instructed to follow these rules without failure. The Mess Committee can take
disciplinary actions against defaulters.
2. For any complaint/suggestion(s), the students may contact the committee members or write to the
mess committee through the feedback form.
3. The fines collected from the defaulters will be used as seen fit by the mess committee by
taking necessary approvals.
4. The mess committee has complete discretion on whom to charge a fine from and on what basis.
5. Mess committee may update these rules as the requirement arises.
