Simulator Bridge
Introduction
This section introduces the Dynamic Simulation Suite (DSS) Simulator Bridge. The Simulator Bridge is designed as
the single simulator interface for all Invensys simulator DSS products to customer simulator systems. It is
designed to allow communication with a customer simulator to our Simulation Executive.
In the past, customers would have to develop an interface to each Invensys engine separately. With the
Simulator Bridge, only one interface to the Simulation Executive is required, providing access to all Invensys
engines. Rather than have to develop a separate interface for each of our DCS, PLC, and process modeling
solution, the Simulator Bridge only requires that our customers develop a single interface for access to all
engines.

FSIM
DYNSIM, TRISIM, FSIM, and TDCSIM are engines that are controlled by the Simulation Executive. The Simulator
Bridge allows the Simulation Executive to perform in "slave" mode such that it is controlled by the external
simulator system.
Note: These products are sold separately. Some of them are only sold in conjunction with Invensys services.
The Simulator Bridge provides complete control over the Simulator Executive by an external customer
supplied simulator executive.
The following control functions are supported. These functions are implemented so that a customer’s
simulation executive gives commands through the Simulator Bridge for the Invensys Simulation Executive to
act as an engine (slave):
o Freeze / Run
o Speed control (relative to real time)
o Save / Restore of snapshots (ICs and Backtracks)
o Setting and getting individual point values
o Getting multiple point values in a single block of data
o Ability to activate, set the value of, and deactivate malfunctions
The Simulator Bridge allows distribution of multiple instances of engines on multiple computers. For
example, a very large simulator could include two instances of FSIM running on separate computers so that
the simulator can meet its real time speed requirements.
Ability to control the simulator through either the native Invensys instructor station or a customer supplied
instructor station.
The Simulator Bridge is delivered with a clean and easy to use installation, programmer documentation and
examples, such that any qualified software developer could implement the interface with minimal support
from our development staff.
The Simulator Bridge is available on operating systems where Dynsim is supported.
