Summary
The author is attempting to convey that even without these individuals at the time, the specific event would still
occur. He is also reiterating that Rizal is not a hero because he did not change the course of history and that he is
only viewed as such because he was able to recognize the issue at hand but not sufficiently to alter the
circumstances.

Ch.4: The role of heroes POST-readING QUESTIONS

REFLECTION/REACTION
1.) The author is trying to tell us that even
without people like Rizal, the events like the
revolution would still happen and that Rizal
should not be viewed and blindly idolized as a
heroic figure just because of his intentions and
desires for the country.
Ch.4: The role of heroes POST-readING QUESTIONS

REFLECTION/REACTION
2.) I was surprised by the author's perspective
that Rizal is only a hero because he was able to
perceive problems that gave rise to historical
forces. However, that as a fact still did not
make him a deserving hero for the author.
Ch.4: The role of heroes POST-readING QUESTIONS

REFLECTION/REACTION
3.) I wonder why the author mentions that
even without Rizal's talents, the struggles or
events could have still continued.
Ch.4: The role of heroes POST-readING QUESTIONS

REFLECTION/REACTION
4.) If I could ask the charater or the author, it
would be why weren’t his ideas accepted by
the mass throughout the years? Why was Rizal
still hailed as a national hero? What hinders
Filipinos to believe his claims and question the
laws related to Rizal?
Ch.4: The role of heroes POST-readING QUESTIONS

REFLECTION/REACTION
5.) The most interesting idea of the article to
me is that Rizal was not viewed as a hero who
stopped and altered the course of event
because the author thinks that rizal is only a
part of the history but not the whole story of
the revolution.
